Written by and starring Paul Gross, the film follows the fortunes of wounded sergeant Michael Dunne (Gross), recovering at a hospital in Canada. After striking up a relationship with nurse Sarah Mann (Caroline Dhavernas), Dunne decides to return to active duty in France in order to shepherd Sarah's younger brother David (Joe Dinicol) through the war. Documentary about Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich and his fight against Stalin's brutal Soviet regime. The film illustrates how Shostakovich used his symphonies nos. 4-9 to convey his opposition to his country's tyrannical and oppressive rule while many of his peers were being executed and imprisoned during the Great Terror and Shostakovich himself was being denounced.
