Advancing the Regional Commons in the New East Asia highlights a number of interests which members of ASEAN and Plus Three countries collectively recognize. This set of common interests includes not only economic development but also social development. Written by nationals in their respective countries, the different chapters in this volume highlights the different foundations for such common interests and these reflect the different constructive ways in which ASEAN and Plus Three countries come to see a multi-strand cooperative partnership. The task of advancing the regional commons will involve efforts to recognise and nurture ASEAN's and Plus Three's common interests in terms of broad social development, managing regional security issues, the development of a regional infrastructure, and ensuring collective progress for all member countries. ASEAN becomes a community in 2015 and the idea of embracing, protecting, sustaining and advancing the regional commons become a vital process. Concurrently, APT has also realized that its contribution to the achieving goal of community and promoting regional commons is absolutely critical for both ASEAN and the Plus Three countries. Academics will find in this volume a clear analytical treatment of issues which regional groupings are currently facing and this can provide the basis for a comparative analysis. This volume will also be of interest to students and the general public looking for a systematic introduction to the successful implementation of cooperative ventures and also an assessment of the new collaborative energies which shape this dynamic region.

The principal role of the diagnostic surgical pathologist is to serve a patient by assisting the clinician in charge of the patient's care. In that capacity, the pathologist provides the vital informationthat should be directly and indirectly useful in guiding the clinician toward the most appropriate therapy. The material pathologists receive most commonly is a biopsy or a part of an organ removed after a definitive pro- dure. To extract useful information, pathological evaluation proceeds according to a set of guidelines. Simply reporting a diagnosis of cancer is inadequate. Detailed additional information is needed so that the clinician can go on to establish a the- peutic plan as needed. To best serve the patient, close interaction between the cli- cian and the pathologist is vital. In the field of urological pathology, there are problems specific to this system. Typically, in the prostate, because of its location, there is little room for a surgeon to work to obtain adequate resection margins, unlike with many other organs. As a result, questions arise such as "What constitutes an adequate surgical margin?" "What is the significance of extraprostatic extension of neoplasm that is still inside the resection margin?" and "What is the significance of neoplastic glands found on the resection margin marked with the ink?" It has been shown that a prostate needle core biopsy can generate much information that is immediately useful in predicting the extent of cancer in the prostate and, consequently, the outcome for the patient.

Laparoscopic surgery is of paramount importance for achieving minimal invasiveness and respect for the quality of life - two hallmarks of contemporary medicine. Laparoscopy is at the forefront of urology today, with dramatic advances in engineering and surgical technique. Because they promise to be less invasive, the innovations presented in this volume will become tomorrows standard. In utero and pediatric laparoscopic surgery are discussed, as are varying approaches to laparoscopic adrenalectomy. Other topics include radical surgery for renal cell carcinoma and transitional cell carcinoma, nephron-sparing laparoscopic surgery for renal cancer, and retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy for testicular cancer. With sections on pyeloplasty, nephropexy, urolithiasis, stress incontinence, kidney transplantation, and dialysis, this book is an especially valuable source in the fields of endourology, laparoscopic surgery, pediatric surgery, and endocrine surgery.

The Montreal Protocol, which is based on the Vienna Ozone Convention, is known as one of the most successful environmental treaties in the history of international law. These treaties, together with non-binding instruments adopted by the MOP/COP, have gradually formed the so-called ‘ozone régime’ and have exerted a significant influence on the international legal order. The first edition of Professor Yoshida’s monograph, The International Legal Régime for the Protection of the Stratosphere Ozone Layer, published in 2001, provided a renowned and comprehensive contemporary study of the international ozone régime. In the second revised edition, the author provides a detailed analysis of the developments in the ozone régime after the adoption of the 1999 Beijing Amendments, including the operation of the Non-Compliance Procedure and the Kigali Amendment on a global phase-down of HFCs.
