'People say to me, if you could do it all again, knowing what you know
now, would you change anything? I'm like, f*** no. If I'd been clean
and sober, I wouldn't be Ozzy. If I'd done normal, sensible things, I
wouldn't be Ozzy.'
Husband. Father. Grandfather. Icon.
1948 - 2025
At the age of sixty-nine, Ozzy Osbourne was on a triumphant farewell
tour, playing to sold-out arenas and rave reviews all around the world.
Then: disaster.
In a matter of just a few weeks, he went from being hospitalised with a
finger infection to having to abandon his tour - and all public life -
as he faced near-total paralysis from the neck down.
Last Rites is the shocking, bitterly hilarious, never-before-told story
of Ozzy's descent into hell. Along the way are reflections on an
extraordinary life and career, including his marriage to wife Sharon,
and what it took for him to return to the stage for the triumphant Back
to the Beginning concert, streamed around the world, where Ozzy
reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates for the final time.
Unflinching, brutally honest, but surprisingly life-affirming, Last
Rites demonstrates once again why Ozzy transcended his status as 'The
Godfather of Metal' and 'The Prince of Darkness' to become a modern-day
folk hero and national treasure.

"They've said some crazy things about me over the years. I mean,
okay: 'He bit the head off a bat.' Yes. 'He bit the head off a
dove.' Yes. But then you hear things like, 'Ozzy went to the show
last night, but he wouldn't perform until he'd killed fifteen
puppies . . .' Now "me," kill fifteen puppies? I love puppies. I've
got eighteen of the f**king things at home. I've killed a few cows
in my time, mind you. And the chickens. I shot the chickens in my
house that night.
It haunts me, all this crazy stuff. Every day of my life has been
an event. I took lethal combinations of booze and drugs for thirty
f**king years. I survived a direct hit by a plane, suicidal
overdoses, STDs. I've been accused of attempted murder. Then I
almost died while riding over a bump on a quad bike at f**king two
miles per hour.
People ask me how come I'm still alive, and I don't know what to
say. When I was growing up, if you'd have put me up against a wall
with the other kids from my street and asked me which one of us was
gonna make it to the age of sixty, which one of us would end up
with five kids and four grandkids and houses in Buckinghamshire and
Beverly Hills, I wouldn't have put money on me, no f**king way. But
here I am: ready to tell my story, in my own words, for the first
time.
A lot of it ain't gonna be pretty. I've done some bad things in my
time. I've always been drawn to the dark side, me. But I ain't the
"devil." I'm just John Osbourne: a working-class kid from Aston,
who quit his job in the factory and went looking for a good time."

Born into poverty--the entire family slept in a single room--Ozzy
Osbourne endured a challenging childhood. It was a struggle from
which he sought shelter in music, and his time as a member of Black
Sabbath revolutionized heavy metal and catapulted him to worldwide
fame. With the acclaim, however, came the excesses and heartbreaks;
and in this engaging and revealing autobiography, Osbourne writes
as candidly about his struggles with addictive substances and the
loss of close friends as he does about his legendary stage
performances and tours, and also discusses his more recent
reinvention as a reality TV star. This is the definitive insider's
account of the heavy metal scene from the 1970s through the 1990s
and a more general cultural history of that same period. Heavy
metal, rock and roll, and pop culture fans alike will find this
essential reading. "Nacido en la pobreza--su familia entera dormia
en una sola habitacion--Ozzy Osbourne tuvo una ninez dificil. Fue
una lucha de la cual consiguio un refugio en la musica, y su tiempo
como un miembro de Black Sabbath sirvio tanto para revolucionar al
heavy metal como para catapultarlo a la fama. Con la aclamacion,
sin embargo, vinieron tambien los excesos y desenganos; y en esta
autobiografia simpatica y reveladora, Osbourne escribe tan
imprescindible."

Wondering if science could explain how he survived his 40-year
avalanche of drugs and alcohol, Ozzy Osbourne became one of a
handful of people in the world to have his entire DNA mapped in
2010. It was a highly complex, $65,000 process, but the results
were conclusive: Ozzy is a genetic anomaly. The "Full Ozzy Genome"
contained variants that scientists had never before encountered and
the findings were presented at the prestigious TEDMED Conference in
San Diego-making headlines around the world. The procedure was in
part sponsored by "The Sunday Times" of London, which had already
caused an international fururoe by appointing Ozzy Osbourne its
star health advice columnist. The newpaper argued that Ozzy's
mutliple near-death experiences, 40-year history of drug abuse, and
extreme hypocondria qualified him more than any other for the job.
The column was an overnight hit, being quickly picked up by
"Rolling Stone" to give it a global audience of millions. In TRUST
ME, I'M DR. OZZY, Ozzy answers reader's questions with his
outrageous wit and surprising wisdom, digging deep into his past to
tell the memoir-style survival stories never published before-and
offer guidance that no sane human being should follow. Part humor,
part memoir, and part bad advice, TRUST ME, I'M DR. OZZY will
include some of the best material from his published columns,
answers to celebrities' medical questions, charts, sidebars, and
more.
Released in September 1982, DEVIL is Ozzy's third solo album and
first live one. Recorded at NYC's Ritz, it closes a chapter in
Ozzy's career with an all-Black Sabbath set, actually competing
against his former bandmates as they released LIVE EVIL just a few
months later. Ozzy's performance is as spirited as ever, and the
Sabbath classics come across tight and rock solid. Opening with
"Symptom Of The Universe", one of the finest metal compositions
ever, the album pulls you into Ozzy's wacky and twisted world for
the duration of the show. This remastered edition (with superb
clarity) features the previously omitted "Sweet Leaf", Sabbath's
ode to herbal remedy. Osbourne's last recorded song with Sabbath,
the ironically titled "Never Say Die" is rocked with renewed vigour
by the ace band of Brad Gillis, Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge. The
group and the over-the-top Manhattan crowd seem to play off each
other. If you're a Sabbath or Ozzy fan, you need to purchase DEVIL,
a sonic souvenir of a classic gig.

Marc Price, Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne star in this horror.
When he learns of the death of rock star Sammi Curr (Tony Fields),
high school student Eddie Weinbauer (Price) is given one of his
idol's records by local radio DJ Nuke (Simmons), who knew the heavy
metal musician personally. But the spirit of Sammi lives on in the
record and he uses the connection to order Eddie to carry out his
bidding from beyond the grave. As his demands grow increasingly
sinister and violent, Sammi is forced to break free and only Eddie
can stop him from taking his revenge on the pupils of Lakeridge
High School.

"The only plan right now is to kill everybody" Joey Jordison, drummerIgnoring every rule in the book and more besides, Slipknot are a notoriously controversial band who combine a talent for outrage with their music. Reminiscent of the outlandishness of punk, 'nu metal' has become the fastest growing area in rock, with Slipknot selling over 2 million copies of their debut album. And yet Slipknot spit, swear and risk injury night after night in their extraordinary live performances. Incredibly, their apparel of masks and boiler suits, which they refuse to remove, means that their fans still do not know what they look like. Jason Arnopp, the first British journalist to interview Slipknot face to mask, describes the transformation of the Des Moines crew into unorthodox mega stars. Featuring an introduction by the legendary Gene Simmons of Kiss, this biography will be the first published on the band either in the UK or America and will include exclusive interviews and in-depth information on the mysterious nine masked men.
