Functionality of Food Proteins: Mechanisms, Modifications, Methods
of Assessment and Applications provides researchers and users of
plant-based proteins with the latest developments on their
functionality at the molecular and ingredient level, and in food
applications. The book discusses the biological, chemical and
physical principles behind the techno-functional and nutritional
properties of proteins, existing methods of functionality
assessment, and protein modification for functional enhancement.
With market demand for protein ingredients, several lesser known
sources are being utilized to develop new protein ingredients and
products, with some intended to replace, partially or wholly,
traditional proteins such as egg, milk, meat, soy and vital gluten.
Depending on the source and processing into ingredients, the
ability of these proteins to satisfy techno-functional and
nutritional requirements in the final food product may differ.
Science-based knowledge is needed in the area of protein
functionality for making decisions along the value chain, from
production on the land to processing and formulation.

Ten years since it was first published in hardback, and now for the
first time in mass market paperback, this volume of short stories
by the cream of British crime writing talent celebrates 75 years of
the quintessential Detection Club. The Detection Club represents
the cream of British crime writing talent. Founded on the cusp of
the 1930s, the Club's first President was G.K. Chesterton, and
since then the mantle of Presidency has passed to some of the most
significant names inthe history of crime fiction, including Agatha
Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers and Julian Symons. The Club meets three
times a year - to dine, to plot, and to exchange ideas. This
anthology includes eleven new stories by the Best of British:
Robert Barnard, Lyndsey Davis, Colin Dexter, Clare Francis, Robert
Goddard, John Harvey, Reginald Hill, P.D. James, H.R.F. Keating,
Michael Ridpath and Margaret Yorke, and has been edited by the
Club's President, Simon Brett. Among the authors are a number of
bestsellers, as well as winners of both Diamond and Gold Daggers.

The world is classic Jane Austen. The mystery is vintage P.D. James.
In their six years of marriage, Elizabeth and Darcy have forged a
peaceful, happy life for their family at Pemberley, Darcy's impressive
estate.
But on the eve of their annual autumn ball, chaos descends. A chaise
appears, rocking down the path from Pemberley's wild woodland. As it
pulls up, Lydia Wickham - Elizabeth Bennet's younger, unreliable sister
- stumbles out screaming that her husband has been murdered.
Plunged into frightening mystery and a lurid murder trial, the lives of
Pemberley's owners and servants alike may never be the same . . .

Polysaccharide Nanoparticles: Preparation and Biomedical
Applications provides detailed information on polysaccharides
nanoparticles in terms of their synthesis and applications.
Naturally occurring polysaccharides are widely used as food
materials, particularly in Asia. Different kinds of polysaccharide
materials are available from nature with various resources such as
crustaceans and algae. The exploration and exploitation of
polysaccharides nanoparticles from natural resource is at the heart
of this book, which also explores the synthesis, preparation and
applications of polysaccharides nanoparticles for tissue
engineering and food applications. This is an important reference
for materials scientists and bioengineers who are looking to gain a
greater understanding on how polysaccharides nanoparticles are
being used for a variety of biomedical applications.

When Commander Adam Dalgliesh visits Larksoken, a remote headland
community on the Norfolk coast in the shadow of a nuclear power
station, he expects to be engaged only in the sad business of tying
up his aunt's estate. But the peace of Larksoken is illusory. A
serial killer known as the Whistler is terrorising the
neighbourhood and Dalgliesh is drawn into the lives of the
headlanders when it quickly becomes apparent that the Whistler
isn't the only murderer at work under the sinister shadow of the
power station. 'Magnificent . . . a compelling human drama.'
