It is well known that behavior problems are a salient
characteristic of children and adults with mental retardation. That
is not to say that all persons with mental retardation experience
behavior disorders; how ever, most studies indicate that the
incidence of emotional disturbance in this population is four to
six times greater than that observed in similar intellectually
nonhandicapped children and adults. It is equally well known that
the principal form of treatment accorded clients with mental
retardation and behavior disorders is pharmacotherapy or the
prescrip tion of behavior modifying drugs. Recent studies show that
6 out of every 10 individuals with mental retardation have been
prescribed drugs as treatment for disorders of emotion or behavior.
Unfortunately, further studies indicate that only one or 2 out of
every 10 clients receiving medication are determined to be
"responders," such that some thera peutic benefit is derived from
their drug treatment. As noted by the title, the single major
thrust of this volume is to review approaches to the treatment of
behavior disorders in persons with mental retardation from a
nondrug perspective. This requires the presentation of a wide range
of material on treatment: basic behavior modification programming,
cognitive-behavioral strategies, habilitative approaches,
counseling and psychotherapy, designing therapeutic living
environments, managing medical factors bearing relevance to
emotional illness, intervening with families, training special
education teachers and direct care staff, and supplying information
on the client's rights to obtain treatment in the least restrictive
and least intrusive manner."
This book is intended to assist managers of professional firms
involved in construction, to confront the issues that face them
from a position of greater understanding, by exposing them to
relevant research results and the views of other experienced
practitioners. A second purpose is to establish a benchmark for
research in the field of practice management in order to stimulate
further work. Lastly, the material brought together here should
prove a valuable source for teaching purposes. In the editors'
view, it is important that, without ignoring findings in adjacent
fields of study, the theory and practice of managing the
professional firm should be advanced in its own right. In this way
solutions tailored to the particular characteristics of the
construction-related professions may be developed. The topics
covered emerged from groupings of the papers submitted, but reflect
the main interactions described in the editorial. The material
starts with general factors affecting all professional firms and
then moves into various facets of the firm itself. Part two
considers the general business environment,// which leads naturally
into part three, where the changing roles of the constru

Capitalizing on recent advances in satellite imaging and
geographic information systems, the Crossway ESV Bible Atlas offers
Bible readers a comprehensive, up-to-date resource that blends
technical sophistication with readability, visual appeal, and
historical and biblical accuracy.
All the key methods of presenting Bible geography and history
are here, including more than 175 full-color maps, 70 photographs,
3-D re-creations of biblical objects and sites, indexes, timelines,
and 65,000 words of narrative description. The atlas uniquely
features regional maps detailing biblically significant areas such
as Egypt, Mesopotamia, Italy, and Greece. It also includes a CD
with searchable indexes and digital maps, and a removable, 16.5 x
22-inch map of Palestine.
This carefully crafted reference tool not only sets a new
standard in Bible atlases but will help ESV readers more clearly
understand the world of the Bible and the meaning of Scripture.
While wartime collaboration in Europe has long been the subject of
scholarly attention, relatively little has been published about
Chinese collaboration with Japan, largely because essential source
materials were inaccessible. Recent liberalization of archival
policy in China and Taiwan has made possible this book, the first
comprehensive treatment of Sino-Japanese collaboration over the
full course of the war, at the level of both state and of society.
Collaboration on the basis of a common "greater East Asian"
interest was rare since the Japanese came as conquerors acting
primarily to further their own national interest. But all Chinese
living in the occupied areas had to decide on the degree to which
they would accommodate Japanese power--whether political, military,
or economic--in order to carry on with their lives. Whether it was
Wang Jingwei as "head of state," or Chinese capitalists in
Shanghai, or town and village elites in the rural areas, all sought
to defend their interests while making the necessary concessions to
the Japanese presence. However, even when Chinese sought a modus
operandi with the Japanese, they found that a common and equal
identity of interest did not exist. Whether expressed in terms of
Chinese willingness to collaborate, or Japanese willingness to
accept collaboration, the limits of accommodation for both were
soon reached.
The eleven essays in the volume explore the issue of collaboration
from a number of vantage points. In the political sphere, essays
range from the foreign policy of the Nationalist government,
through the establishment of Japanese client regimes in central
China, to the response of local elites in northern and central
China to Japanese invasion and occupation. Essays on economic and
cultural collaboration focus particularly on the workings of
collaboration in Shanghai, the key economic and cultural center of
occupied China.

Vegetation classification and mapping was conducted at Weir Farm
National Historic Site during the fall of 2003 and the summers of
2004 and 2005, creating a current digital geospatial vegetation
database for the park. There are nine natural vegetation types that
occur in the park; four upland forest types, one upland
non-vascular type, two forested wetland types, and two wetland
shrub thicket types that reflected the soil moisture conditions of
the site. In addition, four anthropogenic vegetation types
occurred; one successional forest and three non-forested types (two
in mowed upland fields, and one herbaceous wetland seep). Each of
these is described in detail in this report.

Facilities management continues to expand and develop in terms of
the volume and diversity of commercial activity, with a significant
influence upon organisational success and goal achievement. The two
previous editions of Facilities Management have become established
as key sources for all facilities management courses and forward
thinking facilities managers, providing a strong blend of
research-informed opportunities and practical, balanced advice for
strategically orientated practitioners. This third edition builds
on those foundations, focussing on the driving idea that excellent
facilities management demands a responsive and dynamic approach to
the positive impacts facilities can have on users operating within
a world in flux. Within this overarching theme the book considers
numerous contemporary issues facing facilities managers, within a
framework that covers organisation, technology and process.
Provides descriptions of the characteristics, habits, distribution,
and migration patterns of African mammals.
