Doing theology requires dissension and tenacity. Dissension is
required when scriptural texts, and the colonial bodies and
traditions (read: Babylon) that capitalize upon those, inhibit or
prohibit "rising to life." With "nerves" to dissent, the attentions
of the first cluster of essays extend to scriptures and theologies,
to borders and native peoples. The title for the first cluster -
"talking back with nerves, against Babylon" - appeals to the spirit
of feminist (to talk back against patriarchy) and RastafarI (to
chant down Babylon) critics. The essays in the second cluster -
titled "persevering with tenacity, through shitstems" - testify
that perseverance is possible, and it requires tenacity. Tenacity
is required so that the oppressive systems of Babylon do not have
the final word. These two clusters are framed by two chapters that
set the tone and push back at the usual business of doing theology,
inviting engagement with the wisdom and nerves of artists and
poets, and two closing chapters that open up the conversation for
further dissension and tenacity. Doing theology with dissension and
tenacity is unending.

Pelvic Organ Prolapse, or POP, is a little talked about female
health issue that half of all childbearing women will experience
late in life. There are more than 300,000 surgeries for POP
annually. Due to various causes such as menopause, estrogen loss,
genetics, childbirth or heavy lifting, a woman's pelvic organs can
shift or drop. This can lead to POP symptoms, including some
painful and embarrassing ones, as well as impacting a woman s
sexuality. The condition has probably always existed, but has
received little press or public acknowledgement so women could
learn about the condition and treatment options. This book on POP
fills an unfortunate void in women s health awareness. Sherrie Palm
writes about her own personal experiences in Pelvic Organ Prolapse:
The Silent Epidemic. She had never heard about the condition until
she needed surgery for it. Palm explores the subject from all
angles, providing the information women need to recognize the
symptoms of POP and to become advocates for their own health.
Pelvic Organ Prolapse: The Silent Epidemic named the winner for
Women's Health in the USA Book News National BEST BOOKS 2009
Awards. http: //www.usabooknews.com/2009bestbooksawards.html More
information about Sherrie Palm, and how she is creating awareness
for this women's health issue can be found on her website: http:
//sherriepalm.com/home About the Author: First-time author Sherrie
Palm is a retired business owner. She lives in Wisconsin with her
significant other; she has four children and seven grandchildren.
Palm plans to conduct educational seminars on POP. She is also
actively involved with the local Special Olympics and will donate a
portion of the book s proceeds to the group.
This book discusses global dynamics behind the synchronous outburst
of protests in China and Germany in 1989 and the local acts of
dissent on the squares comparatively. It breaks with the national
timelines protests in 1989 have so far been identified with and
offers insights into the spatial manifestation of the global moment
of 1989. Concluding on the importance of the "SpaceTime" on the
seized squares in 1989, it also discusses more recent protests
forming on city squares. Offering a global perspective on a
phenomenon that itself became global in the last decades, the book
provides a view on globalization processes operating from below
that puts the occupied space on city squares at the heart of
interest.
This volume is a compilation of the research presented at the
International Asteroid Day workshop which was celebrated at
Barcelona on June 30th, 2015. The proceedings discuss the beginning
of a new era in the study and exploration of the solar system's
minor bodies. International Asteroid Day commemorates the Tunguska
event of June 30th, 1908. The workshop's goal was to promote the
importance of dealing proactively with impact hazards from space.
Multidisciplinary experts contributed to this discussion by
describing the nature of comets and asteroids along with their
offspring, meteoroids. New missions to return material samples of
asteroids back to Earth such as Osiris-REx and Hayabusa 2, as well
as projects like AIM and DART which will test impact deflection
techniques for Potentially Hazardous Asteroids encounters were also
covered. The proceedings include both an outreach level to
popularize impact hazards and a scientific character which covers
the latest knowledge on these topics, as well as offering proposals
of promising new techniques that will help gain new insights of the
properties of these challenging bodies by studying meteoroids and
meteorites. Asteroids, comets, meteoroids and meteorites are
introduced with descriptions of their nature, origin, and solar
system pathways.

July 1966: The dreams of an Iranian political correspondent are
shattered to pieces when he is informed that instead of flying to
Saigon, he will have to travel to London to report on the World
Cup. To him, this is an insignificant matter at a time when the
world is silently burning in the flames of wars and in the coldness
of the Cold War. However, to his surprise, he finds football to be
a new global language. World Cup 1966, in particular, appears to be
reuniting people all over the globe. In the middle of the world's
unrest, World Cup 1966 is a moment of fresh air. From the early
elimination of the two time champions, Brazil and Italy, to the
phenomenal appearance of North Korea; from the brave Portuguese men
who gave their all to stay longer in the competition to the proud
Germans who made every effort to repair the broken image of their
nation; from the tears of Black Pearl to the nine goals of Black
Panther; and from England's disappointing draw in the opening match
to their glorious victory in the Final; the story brings back all
the ups and downs of World Cup 1966, set against a stark backdrop
of world events that defined that tumultuous time period.
The book offers a new approach to information theory that is more
general then the classical approach by Shannon. The classical
definition of information is given for an alphabet of symbols or
for a set of mutually exclusive propositions (a partition of the
probability space ) with corresponding probabilities adding up to
1. The new definition is given for an arbitrary cover of , i.e. for
a set of possibly overlapping propositions. The generalized
information concept is called novelty and it is accompanied by two
new concepts derived from it, designated as information and
surprise, which describe "opposite" versions of novelty,
information being related more to classical information theory and
surprise being related more to the classical concept of statistical
significance. In the discussion of these three concepts and their
interrelations several properties or classes of covers are defined,
which turn out to be lattices. The book also presents applications
of these new concepts, mostly in statistics and in neuroscience.
MATLAB for Engineering Applications is a simple, concise book
designed to be useful for beginners and to be kept as a reference.
MATLAB is a globally available standard computational tool for
engineers and scientists. This text is intended as a stand-alone
introduction to MATLAB and can be used in an introductory course,
as a self-study text, or as a supplementary text. The text's
material is based on the author's experience in teaching a required
two-credit semester course devoted to MATLAB for engineering
freshmen. This title will be available in Connect, but is not
available with SmartBook. Instructor Resources available for this
title include: Solutions Manual, Presentation Tools Table (includes
Lecture PowerPoints and Image Bank), MATLAB Files, MATLAB Live
Scripts.

to the cells, organs and organisms; instrumentation and methods to
sense oxygen and clinical evidence. Oxygen Transport to Tissue
XXXIV includes contributions from scientists (physicists,
biologists and chemists), engineers, clinicians and mathematicians.
