Over recent decades a variety of tools, regulations, and funding
and support schemes have been developed in the EU to promote and
enhance entrepreneurial activities. However, research supporting
entrepreneurial activities in the EU remains under-researched.
Entrepreneurship, Institutional Framework and Support Mechanisms in
the EU aims to shed some light on the important and yet crucially
under-explored interactions between entrepreneurship, institutions
and support mechanisms within the EU. This collective volume sets
the foundations of a comprehensive discussion which focuses on the
determinants of boosting EU entrepreneurship in local, regional,
national and supranational levels. With its scope will extend to
all major, relevant and interrelated aspects, Entrepreneurship,
Institutional Framework and Support Mechanisms in the EU provides a
go-to source of current thinking in this area.
Greece is at a critical juncture of its recent history. The
economic policies of the last three decades have brought it close
to bankruptcy. Much of the debate about Greece's current problems
has focused on the short-run management of the crisis. This book
contributes to public debate by bringing into discussion important
economic, political and social issues which have played a major
role in preventing Greece's transformation into a modern capitalist
economy.
The immense importance of entrepreneurship in supporting the growth
dynamic of regions / nations is widely accepted. This, however, has
not always been the case. The focus on large-scale industrial units
as the engines of growth was well supported on the grounds of
efficiency and technological change. This focus has been
characteristic of the post World War II period while "Those who
perceived small firms to be contributing significantly to growth,
employment generation, and competitiveness were few and far
between". In the past decade, however, the way in which small firms
are viewed has changed drastically and this book will be
informative in representing the current development of business
incubators.
