"Cellar Door" is an ambitious experiment by French artist Loris Greaud (born 1979) that interweaves his interests in art, architecture and music. Realized primarily as installations in Paris and London, the project also comprises an opera staged at the Paris Opera, and the construction of a studio space for the artist. This book documents the project in its entirety.
The exhibition Maison Sonia. Sonia Delaunay and the Atelier Simultane is dedicated to the applied work of Russian-French artist Sonia Delaunay (1885-1979), with a focus on her textile design work. The accompanying catalogue includes the first scholarly essays on Sonia Delaunay's collaborations with silk industrialist Robert Perrier and couturier Jacques Heim, who were among her most important collaborators and previously unexplored. In addition, the publication provides the first overview of the role of Sonia Delaunay's simultaneous fabrics in the design of modern living and media spaces.
The first major monograph on the work of contemporary Belgian artist Fabrice Samyn Contemporary Belgian artist Fabrice Samyn (b. 1981) works in a wide variety of media, including painting, photography, sculpture, installation, and recently choreography. His art engages with history and the passage of time, raising important questions about representation, idolatry, iconoclasm, and ecology in our contemporary world. In the artist's own words, "My work attempts to reveal time, or rather natural phenomena of time (erosion for example) as creative." One of his best-known series, "Sinai" (2010), features photographic images of the necks of Greek sculptures, cropped and lit in such a way that they become abstract landscapes. This book is the first to offer an in-depth exploration of the full scope of Samyn's oeuvre. Copiously illustrated, the book also includes penetrating essays by prominent European philosophers and art historians. Distributed for Mercatorfonds Exhibition Schedule: Gallerie Sies + Hoek, Dusseldorf (2020)
