Mit Inkrafttreten des Reichsimpfgesetzes 1874 formierten sich die latent vorhandenen Kritiker zu einer organisierten Impfgegnerschaft. Um deren Beweggrunde, Argumente und die Verbindungen der Protagonisten untereinander zu erfassen, bietet sich ein regionaler Bezugsrahmen an. Er ermoeglicht es, die individuellen Kontexte der Impf(zwang)gegner zu ermitteln, ihre Vernetzungen aufzudecken und zu zeigen, wie dieses Netzwerk arbeitete. Zudem wird untersucht, inwieweit die Impfgegner in Hessen in die zeitgenoessische Lebensreformbewegung integriert waren. Moderne Impfkritiker, die uber das World Wide Web vernetzt sind, tragen mit dazu bei, dass schwerwiegende Infektionskrankheiten wie Masern immer wieder ausbrechen.
