Ever since John Grierson popularized the term "documentary,"
British non-fiction film has been renowned, sometimes reviled, but
seldom properly appreciated. "100 British Documentaries "provides a
uniquely accessible, occasionally provocative introduction to a
rich and surprisingly varied tradition by considering 100 examples
taken from across a century's worth of output.
The 100 films range from the Victorian period to the present day.
Alongside such classics as "Night Mail "and "Touching the Void "are
documentaries that illustrate the many uses to which it has been
put--from pro-gram-filler to political propaganda to classroom
teaching aid--and the many styles and viewpoints it has embraced.
While the focus is on the documentary "film," several television
productions are included, indicating how the genre has developed on
the small screen.
THE DINNER JACKET POEMS the CHANTILCLEER POET JEFF WAYNE-PATRICK
RUSSELL Jeff Wayne-Patrick Russell aka the Chantilcleer poet starts
his Dinner Jacket Poems with a boyhood visit to his grandmother's
apartment in Glendale, CA where he's fascinated by the
Knockittttty, knock knocks of woodpeckers pecking on telephone
poles in her neighborhood. With "yells of silence" he takes us on a
quest to the "streets of Gold" where he "dreams of a Coliseum in
Eternity." The pilgrim does not travel alone. There are desert
paths to be sure where "a snake slithers past the moon, leaving
them both to crawl home to caves and holes." But there are also
Happy Hour epiphanies where a margarita dancer shares with him a
glimpse of her beauty and moments of "sarcastic bliss among friends
over a' good-beer." There are times the quester needs to be in
solitude: "And if you want to talk to me Find me In person Maybe
Australia" There are times he seeks solidarity with a significant
other: "ohhhhhhhh Lord your girllllllllllllllllllllll - for...
meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" When she's found and "Reeling and rocking as
our flame grows - higher than others" he leads "Make our flame
last." My favorite poem of his near the end of the book is ME...AND
DECIBEL TETON...where "lying on a stone" he drinks from a cactus
and with gaze fixed upon a spiraling hawk pleads "Hawk, stay long,
Hawk, stay long Hawk circling, Circling Hawk Return me to myself."
I couldn't agree more.

business, socially acceptable insanity and a search for a reality
where one can live and find happiness in the midst of it all...and

The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly
growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by
advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve
the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own:
digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works
in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these
high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts
are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries,
undergraduate students, and independent scholars.Medical theory and
practice of the 1700s developed rapidly, as is evidenced by the
extensive collection, which includes descriptions of diseases,
their conditions, and treatments. Books on science and technology,
agriculture, military technology, natural philosophy, even
cookbooks, are all contained here.++++The below data was compiled

Russell may very well be the last hippie, born on Earth Day, 1969,
and growing up a rebellious, non- Conformist in a beat culture, he
appreciated then, and Now with an artful conscience has found a way
to pass it on. As in his "Grand Scale," 'The Poet.figures it out
And repudiates his doctrine turning the wheel Casually Eternally,
Man.' This is A collection of poetry that's electrifying and makes
captivating reading. A spiritual awakening. Ken Geringer, Author of
'Nobody Told Me: From Basement Band to Jack Douglas and the John
Lennon Sessions.
