Based on a conference held at Ohio State University, this volume
focuses on the unique mental health needs of ethnic minorities.
Four sections cover psychopathology; advances in assessment;
advances in treatment; the current state of knowledge including
university, professional, and government roles. Each section
presents an introduction to its theme as well as three papers. The
papers individually relate the section theme to three ethnic
groups: Black, Hispanic, and Asian Americans. Distinguished by its
developmental as well as clinical orientation, this graduate level
textbook is also an excellent reference for professionals in the
fields of mental health, social work, education, and medicine.
The field of Minority Mental Health promises to produce research
which will promote the welfare of ethnic minorities and contribute
to the understanding of nonminorities. Toward this goal, the
editors and contributors of "Mental Health of Ethnic MinoritieS"
review the current state of knowledge as it relates to mental
health problems, assessment, and treatment. They suggest new
directions for research. They also provide a vehicle to disseminate
research findings to the service provider, professional training
programs, and the graduate student.

If you only buy one book to improve your life this year, make it
this one. Temple Grandin, Liane Holliday Willey, Anita Lesko,
Stephen M. Shore, and many other Aspie mentors, offer their
personal guidance on coping with the daily stressors that Aspies
have identified as being the most significant, in order of urgency
- anxiety, self-esteem, change, meltdowns, depression, friendship,
love, and much, much more. Based on years of personal experience,
this book is packed with advice from Aspie mentors who have all
been there and done that! World expert Dr. Tony Attwood rounds up
each chapter with professional analysis and extensive
recommendations. He includes essential information on destructive
strategies that may look attractive, but that have
counter-productive effects. Including full color artwork from Aspie
artists showing visually how they interpret each stressor, this is
THE inspirational guide to life for young adults, the newly
diagnosed, and as a life-long reference for anyone on the spectrum
- written by Aspies for Aspies.

This book is a collection of reflections and thoughts from a person
on the Autism spectrum and their perspective on many different
topics of life: communication, employment, selfhood, selflessness
and how a person on the Autism spectrum interacts and processes the
world around them. It deals with many of the issues (both internal
and external and from a personal perspective) that many people with
autism have to deal with one way or another in their lives. It also
gives a foundation of what a person with autism can gain through
experience and self-reflection on certain things that have happened
in their lives. The author would like to inspire hope, drive and
positivity to people on the spectrum and provide the thought that
happiness and helping others is truly the key.
Paul Isaacs has High Functioning Autism. In this book he talks
about his life and the misunderstandings in his younger years by
people around him such as neighbours, teachers and family members.
The hardships of being in education while undiagnosed and the
difficulties in the work place and being misdiagnosed by Mental
Health Professionals.
Despite all this he has come through these hard times with the
help, love and support from his family and friends. Which he
believes is the important backbones of where he is today. He also
believes in Autistic specific support for everyone on the
spectrum.
