Water deficiency in many arid and semi-arid regions in Southern
Europe is becoming a major constraint for economic welfare and
sustainable regional development. These regions are characterised
by high spatial and temporal imbalances of water demand and supply,
seasonal water uses, inadequate water resources and poor
institutional water management. The aim of this book is to
formulate appropriate strategies and guidelines for water
management necessary for the formulation and implementation of
integrated sustainable management of water resources. Lessons are
learned from various case studies, which examine competing water
use patterns, compare governance structures and how these have
evolved in response to scarcity, and structural and non-structural
instruments to address water deficiency. Water Management in Arid
and Semi-Arid Regions will appeal to policymakers in relevant
countries as well as to scholars and researchers of environmental
studies and economics.

fundamental techniques and strategies to solve for unknown
variables in any context. The book offers a unique balance between
two competing emphases: test-taking strategies and in-depth content
understanding. Practice problem sets build specific foundational
skills in each topic and include the most advanced content that
many other prep books ignore. Book also includes online access to 6
full-length Simulated Practice GMAT Exams at Manhattan GMAT's
website.
An award-winning poet from Princeton University and well-known film
director and author (6 STARS WARS books) offers serious reflections
on philosophical topics and famous people. Paul Jeffrey Davids is
noted for his work in television (from THE TRANSFORMERS to
Showtime's ROSWELL) and documentaries released by NBC Universal
(JESUS IN INDIA, THE SCI-FI BOYS) and Universal's STARRY NIGHT.
Here you will find his poems about Vincent van Gogh, Edgar Allan
Poe, John Huston, Forrest J Ackerman, Ray Harryhausen and other
cinema pioneers. Some poems delve into reincarnation, life after
death, hauntings, love and despair, visions of the future and
distant past, synchronicity, the meaning of life and death, and the
poet's father (Prof. Jules Davids of Georgetown U.) and his mother.
This completes his 2012 trilogy of poetry books, the other two
being much lighter and filled with humor: POEMS TO READ WHILE
DRIVING ON FREEWAYS (AND OTHER WAYS TO DIE LAUGHING) and POEMS TO
READ WHEN YOU RUN OUT OF WEED.
The author brought you THE TRANSFORMERS original cartoons on TV,
plus 6 best-selling STAR WARS books from Lucasfilm and 8 popular
feature films, many released by NBC Universal TV. Now he turns his
talents to some of the funniest insights you will find on topics
for today, from marriage to dieting, from traffic congestion to
airport security, from computer hackers to remodeling contractors.
His gift for rhyme may remind you of Calvin Trillin -- and he's
been called a Shel Silverstein for adults.
Don't smoke this book, just read it to attain incredible rhyming
insights into topics such as tattoos, graffiti, gambling, dieting,
technology, internet porn, wealth, UFO's, climate change, the film
industry and also some less significant topics, such as the Big
Bang that created the universe. When there's no weed left anywhere
on Earth, there will still be the awesome humor of Paul Jeffrey
Davids to get you high with laughter. From the Award-winning
Princeton poet who brought you six STAR WARS best selling books
from Lucasfilm and Random House / Bantam, who was production
coordinator and co-writer of the original animated TRANSFORMERS TV
series, and who produced films such as Showtime's ROSWELL and
Universal's THE SCI-FI BOYS.

The essays in this collection investigate two political traditions
and their critical interactions. The first series of essays deals
with the development of natural rights individualism, some
examining its origins in the thought of the seminal political
theorist, John Locke, and the influential constitutional theorist,
Montesquieu, others the impact of their theories on intellectual
leaders during the American Revolution and the Founding era, and
still others the culmination of this tradition in the writings of
nineteenth-century individualists such as Lysander Spooner. The
second series of essays focuses on the Progressive repudiation of
natural rights individualism and its far-reaching effect on
American politics and public policy.
