Praparativ und technisch ist sie von Bedeutung fur die Darstellung dieser einzelnen Re duktionsprodukte, in der physiologischen Chemie interessiert sie im Zusammenhang mit der Stickstoffassimilation, in der analy tischen Chemie ist sie zur Ausarbeitung verschiedener Bestimmungs methoden von Nitriten und Nitraten verwandt worden. Ihrer Wichtigkeit entsprechend ist schon viel uber diese Frage gearbeitet worden, und es sollen hier die rein chemischen Arbeiten, bei welchen in neutraler oder alkalischer Losun- wie in der vorliegenden Arbeit - reduziert wurde, kurz angefuhrt werden. In erster Linie sei die Arbeit von W. Zorn (B. IS, 125) genannt, da dieser sowohl Nitrite als auch Nitrate ahnlich wie in dieser Arbeit, mit Ferrohydroxyd in der Kalte reduzierte. Er verwendet diese Methode zur Darstellung von untersalpetriger Saure, und gibt an, dass sich nebenbei grosse Mengen N 20 und ferner NH und N z bildet. 3 Schonbein (Journ. f. prakt.
