Wie in der im Jahre 1940 in der Buchreihe "Chemie und Technologie der Kunst- stoffe in Einzeldarstellungen" erschienenen Monogra phie "Prufung und Bewertung elektrotechnischer lsolierstoffe" von NITSCHE/PFESTORF ist es auch in dem nun vorliegenden, das gesamte Kunststoffgebiet umfassenden Werk NITSCHE/WOLF, "Kunststofle, Struktur, physikalisches Verhalten und Prufung" beabsichtigt, der Fachwelt im II. Band eine moglichst geschlossene Obersicht uber die Kunst- stoffprufung im In- und Ausland zu vermitteln. Bei dem Tode des einen Herausgebers - Prof. Dr.-Ing. RUDOLF NITSCHE im Dezember 1958 -lag die Mehrzahl der Manuskripte dieses Bandes vor. Der Sprin- ger-Verlag trat daher im Fruhjahr 1959 mit der Bitte an mich heran, die e einer Durchsicht zu unterziehen. Die Entwicklung auf dem Gebiet der Kunststoffprufung war in den letzten 5 Jahren sowohl im In- als auch im Ausland sehr lebhaft gewesen. Wichtige Fortschritte in der physikalischen und chemischen Erkenntnis sowie auch in der praktischen MeBtechnik waren gemacht worden. Die durch Krankheit und Tod von R. NITSCHE entstandene Verzogerung in der Herausgabe des Buches zwang daher zu einer vollstandig neuen Dberarbeitung der Manuskripte. Die von R. NITSCHE vorgesehene Aufteilung in die folgenden 6 Hauptkapitel: Pruflaboratorium - Probekorper - Ermittlung der verschiedenen Kunst- stoffeigenschaften - Betriebs- und Abnahmeprufungen von Kunststoff- erzeugnissen - Auswertung von Versuchsergebnissen - N or mung und Gute- sicherung wurde beibehalten.
