My Date with Cancer - 21 Spiritual Lessons (Paperback): Paulette Kouffman Sherman My Date with Cancer - 21 Spiritual Lessons (Paperback)
Paulette Kouffman Sherman; Designed by Sara Blum
R315 Discovery Miles 3 150 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

These are the 21 lessons I learned on my spiritual path through cancer. 21 is an important number. Some say it is the number of Spiritual Masters, of the harmony of Creation, of renewal, of the responsibility and maturity of the individual, that there are 21 attributes of wisdom and the word Angel was pronounced by Jesus 21 times. Also, healers say that it takes 21 days to break a habit. We have a habit (in this society)of thinking of cancer as a scary death pronouncement that leads to fear, depression and anger. Sometimes this makes us doubt God and our purpose. Sometimes it makes us become harder on ourselves, instead of leading us to more Grace and Love. What follows are lessons that helped me transition from fear to love while on my cancer path. I hope it will inspire you too I wanted to create a short picture book that you could flip through while you were in the hospital; one that would not require a ton of brain power but would lift your spirits. Do not give up. If I can get through my year of treatment so can you

Riva Nussenbaum was born in Khotin, Basserabia on November 9th, 1910. She had two sisters, two brothers and parents and was the youngest child. Her two brothers and sisters left for America when anti-semitism had begun to increase but Riva was only nine so she remained to take care of her mother, who was sick. She married Avraham Wolkove when she was 28 years old and they celebrated the arrival of their first child a year later. She made a hope chest her new daughter. Little did she know, their future was not something she could plan. When Riva's daughter turned one, the Iron guard descended on their little town without warning and told the townspeople to pack up their bags. They were all sent to a work camp, ' to help the government.' The soldiers offered to put my mother (who was then only one year old) onto a carriage for the children but she walked with my Bubby instead. It was a 300 mile march to a town called Murapha, 60 kilometers before Kiev. The work camp was called Transnistria. At night they slept on the fields and ate raw potatoes and carrots. Every day 3-5 people died from hunger. This difficult journey took 6 months to complete. At Murapha, they lived in an abandoned house with seventeen people. There was nothing to eat and every day the men were taken to work. The men worked on the fields and in return they were given some pea soup which they split three ways. Some days they lived only on water. They did not take a bath for three years and had head lice. They had to wash their clothes without soap and my Bubby loved to be clean, so this was very hard for her. She imagined what it would be like to come home to a normal bed and home. Find out how she survived this experience and more, living until 99 years old to enjoy her children, grandchildren and great grandchild...and share in the wisdom and grace that she can offer us today.

The Cancer Path is a memoir/self-help book about a woman who views cancer as spiritual path. Dr. Sherman describes it as her 'Eat, Pray, Love' of cancer experience. As a psychologist, mother, wife and breast cancer survivor, Dr. Sherman viewed cancer as a zen stick that promoted self-care, healing and greater wholeness. It was a springboard to examine her body, mind, emotions and Spirit. This context made this challenging year of treatment an eternal gift. She wrote this book so that other cancer survivors could learn these spiritual lessons too. Her wish is that the cancer experience can lead to deeper healing and growth. The Cancer Path examines healing on all four levels, examining controversial questions related to cancer treatment, addressing coping strategies, healing resources and providing many practical tips along the way. Dr. Sherman references over sixty books as milestones along your path. The Cancer Path will help you: Feel less alone on this startling & challenging journey Develop a Healing Team that supports you Explore ways to process your emotions Find Spiritual meaning in your illness Choose positive thoughts and a powerful context about your cancer Explore the research on controversial issues related to your cancer treatment Examine diet, movement and alternative therapies for your body Consider the role of meditation and prayer Reflect upon the spiritual lessons you receive on your cancer path Marry healing on all four levels for optimal holistic growth ...And so much more Dr. Sherman felt that her cancer path brought her spiritual purpose into focus and she wants the same for you Dr. Paulette Kouffman Sherman is a licensed psychologist with a private practice in Manhattan. When Mars Women Date: How Career Women Can Love Themselves Into the Relationship of Their Dreams "If you're an independent, strong, passionate woman, you are meant to have a great life and you know it. This book will give you permission to claim who you really are, and create a love relationship that celebrates your highest strength and offers you the highest happiness." Tama Kieves, bestselling author of This Time I Dance Creating the Work You Love "Finally, a dating book for the self-actualized person In When Mars Women Date, Dr. Paulette Sherman gives readers the tools to fully honor their authentic selves and manifest the relationships they desire. Regardless of your planet of origin, you'll find effective techniques here." Deb Snyder, PhD, Author of Intuitive Parenting: Listening to the Wisdom on Your Heart Single successful career women can be independent and strong on dates and still find the man of their dreams. Gender stereotypes limit our dating and relationship behavior. Experts advise women to be passive, to disguise their accomplishments, to let men do the decision-making and planning during dating and to focus more on their relationship than their career if they want to be attractive to a man. This book explores why this model often doesn't fit, through interviews, research and clinical examples. It's time women had an equal playing field with men in work, dating, marriage, domestic work and childcare. Many men would love to have women pay more on dates, have women ask them out or contribute income so they could remain home more. When Mars Women Date is written from the male and female perspective, to explain how we can create balanced and authentic partnerships, from the start. THE BENEFITS TO READING THIS BOOK INCLUDE: Learn to date authentically Discover how high profile career women successfully date and marry See what types of men they choose and why Learn why men love successful women and uncover what they find challenging Understand how these couples negotiate dating, living together and fairly dividing the domestic tasks and childcare involved in marriage Discover how to choose a mate who'll support your dreams Learn how women who make more money make their relationships work Dr. Paulette Kouffman Sherman is a licensed psychologist and the owner of My Dating School in Manhattan (www.mydatingschool.com) where she offers classes in relationships. Mishkan - A Sensual Spiritual Bedtime Story (Paperback): Paulette Kouffman Sherman Mishkan - A Sensual Spiritual Bedtime Story (Paperback)
Paulette Kouffman Sherman; Illustrated by Rachel Vine; Designed by Sara Blum
R343 Discovery Miles 3 430 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Mishkan is a sensuous, spiritual bedtime story for adults. It was written as a poem by Paulette to her husband on their sixth wedding anniversary and was illustrated by Rachel Shana Vine. As parents of two children under four (at the time) Paulette describes the challenge of balancing dark and light in marriage; the physical and spiritual world. Marriage is full of responsibilities so it's important to remember the underlying light, love and unity. Shekhina (the Feminine Divine in Judaism) also means mishkan, the tent that houses the Divine or the indwelling presence of God. As we source her love we can bring it into our home, our body and our heart, in holy union. Mishkan is a kabbalistic allegory for marrying the physical and spiritual world and for lifting the veil of conflict and illusion to continually rediscover love in our lives.
