In this book, world-renowned theatre artist Pamela Howard OBE shows how her life has always been part of the art of making theatre. In this book, fundamental methods of nonlinear analysis are introduced, discussed and illustrated in straightforward examples. Each method considered is motivated and explained in its general form, but presented in an abstract framework as comprehensively as possible. A large number of methods are applied to boundary value problems for both ordinary and partial differential equations. In this edition we have made minor revisions, added new material and organized the content slightly differently.

In particular, we included evolutionary equations and differential equations on manifolds. The applications to partial differential equations follow every abstract framework of the method in question.

The text is structured in two levels: a self-contained basic level and an advanced level - organized in appendices - for the more experienced reader. The last chapter contains more involved material and can be skipped by those new to the field. This book serves as both a textbook for graduate-level courses and a reference book for mathematicians, engineers and applied scientists

Dieser Band der Reihe "Mathematik fur Ingenieure und Naturwissenschaftler" fuhrt in die Grundlagen der Thematik Integralgleichungen ein. Dabei handelt es sich um einen Problemkreis, der vom theoretischen Standpunkt aus wichtig ist und auch viele Anwendungen findet. Beim Leser werden Grundkenntnisse aus den Anfangssemestern vorausgesetzt. Bis auf wenige Ausnahmen wird die in diesem Buch dargelegte Theorie fur stetige Funktionen auf kompakten Inter vallen entwickelt. Man kann also problemlos mit dem Riemannschen Integral begriff auskommen. Das Buch besteht aus funf Teilen; jeder der 15 numerierten Abschnitte ist unter gliedert: 7.3 bezeichnet den dritten Unterabschnitt von Abschnitt 7, und (7.3) steht fur die dritte Formel in diesem Abschnitt. In der Einfuhrung wird dem Leser eine erste Begegnung mit Integralgleichun gen ermoeglicht. Ausserdem werden einige Aufgabenstellungen aus der Praxis vorgestellt, deren mathematische Formulierung auf Integralgleichungen fuhrt. Der zweite Teil befasst sich mit der Loesung einiger spezieller Typen von Integral gleichungen. Die Laplace-Transformation wird hier als Werkzeug zur Loesung Volterrascher Gleichungen mit Faltungskern benutzt. Im Fall Fredholmscher Integralgleichungen mit ausgeartetem Kern wird der enge Zusammenhang der Theorie der Integralgleichungen mit der linearen Algebra aufgezeigt. Zum Ab schluss wird dann die Fredholmsche Alternative formuliert. Im folgenden Teil steht die Loesbarkeit von Integralgleichungen im Mittelpunkt.

This book presents a series of essays exploring the cultural notion that has come to be known as "Shakespeare." Shakespeare's collaborators are not only those who were his contemporaries but also those who have given new life to his works in a new garb, be it a play, a theatre production, a film, a TV play, a novel, a museum item, or a collection of illustrated strips.The collection presents papers given at an international conference entitled Shakespeare and His Collaborators over the Centuries, which took place at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic) on February 8-11, 2006. The individual contributions deal with the notion of collaborating with Shakespeare both in a literal as well as figurative sense. The essays in the first section discuss the literary and cultural milieus which were conducive to the creation of Shakespeare's works. The second part discusses early adaptations and variants of Shakespeare's plays while the third section offers a broader range of artistic (as well as idolatrous) repercussions of the Shakespearean canon.
