As the world speeds up, as technology takes over, it is worth remembering how we used to live. This three-book series is a nostalgic hymn to an era when life was slower: a meandering ramble through the British countryside by bicycle, automobile and train. Take an amble across the countryside with this book, which celebrates a time when our railway network was more than a permanently delayed omnishambles of overcrowded and overpriced trains. Country stations and lonely halts, milk churns and coal yards, enamelled signs and platform clocks - these are the fragments of a more leisured age, from a time when the local station was a well-loved institution at the heart of so many communities. Here are gas-lit rural stations, oil lamps on level crossing gates, enamelled signs, waiting room fires, timetables and luggage labels. Less a clattering, steamy ride into the past than a touchstone for joyous memories of such a vital and well-loved institution, The Slow Train harks back to a more measured, considered era.
Railway Rhymes is probably the first time that the poetry of railways has been brought together into one dedicated volume. Here will certainly be found the old favourites - Philip Larkin's 'Whitsun Weddings', W.H. Auden's 'Night Mail', John Betjeman's 'Distant View of a Provincial Town', - but equally this little book is stuffed with forgotten gems like Edmund Blunden's 'Two Wars' and Patricia Beer's 'The Branch Line'. Divided up into chapters entitled Navigation, Engineering, Waiting, Travellingand Musing, Railway Rhymes is the perfect pocket companion for waiting room and train compartment alike
Set back in 1997... A day like any other ends in a brutally vicious race hate killing in the street. What really happened when Phillip was murdered? Each of his friends knows some of the story of that dramatic day. A day they'll never, ever forget.... How will his friends and family cope with the media spotlight as the strength of their relationships is tested to the full? Are their relationships strong enough to deal with the aftermath of a murder? And how will the police cope when their investigation of the murder is questioned by an angry community desperate for justice? Angry People Smiling delves into the rawest, deepest emotions and prejudices of those left behind to pick up the pieces, emotions and prejudices that are sometimes frail, sometimes strong, sometimes humorous but always with a passionately explosive undercurrent... Angry People Smiling....
Have you ever wondered why you are here and what you are supposed to be doing? We have published this book to bring you channelled messages from a group of spiritual beings that call themselves "The Circle of The Light of The Love Energy." We feel that what they have to say will help you understand the answers to those questions. We believe the messages are full of encouragement. They guide and challenge us to discover our real selves. The overall message is that the key to our progression on Earth is love. We need to love ourselves. This will help us love others, thereby achieving our purpose. Some of the messages also give interesting information about the changes now happening to Earth and humanity in 2012. The Circle of the Light of the Love Energy have even given some messages in the form of poems. We feel sure they will touch a chord with you as well. We have received much guidance from these messages and we hope you will too. We live in an enlightening time. Embrace it, and walk in Light and Love. Kay Meade and Peter Ashley
New Zealand trance medium Kay Meade channels messages of love and guidance. The messages come from a group of spiritual guides who call themselves 'The Circle of The Light of The Love Energy'. The purpose of their messages is to awaken people to what they really are - an eternal soul temporarily inhabiting a human body on Earth so as to learn and develop spiritually through their experiences here. The group's aim is to help raise the vibration of Earth and humankind to a higher spiritual level where all interactions between people are based on love. They have asked that their messages be spread far and wide.
Currently, clinical training for undergraduates is becoming more difficult. To be a good doctor with adequate training, one must be exposed to many different patients with a variety of pathologies and diseases. At present, we are unable to achieve this, mainly due to the increase in the medical student cohort each year and fewer in-patients. In short, the student-to-patient ratio is worsening, thus lessening students' contact with patients and learning experience. Fortunately, with the objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) format, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and examination have become more efficient. This book will be very useful for students preparing for surgical OSCEs by covering the different clinical scenarios that a certain condition might present, and allowing self-testing of the questions as well as learning from the provided answers.
