The Changing World of Outdoor Learning in Europe sets out to
provide a comprehensive analysis of the economical and political
changes that have occurred in European outdoor culture in the
preceding two decades, from a diverse range of perspectives
including institutional, theoretical, national and educational
views. The book looks at how outdoor education has been transformed
into an increasingly global field where established and influenced
practices have been introduced into modernising and democratising
nations. With contributions from the members of the board of the
European Institute of Outdoor Adventure Eduation and Experiential
Learning and representatives of the networks that stand behind it,
this unique book provides thorough factual analyses and
examinations of outdoor learning that have never been presented
before. The book contains contributions from across Europe, with
authors from the UK, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Slovenia, Poland,
Norway and the Czech Republic. Chapters within the volume by non -
European authors provide another perspective on the European story
in a wider context. As a whole, the book will stimulate the ongoing
debate about the nature, function and organisation of outdoor
education around the globe. The Changing World of Outdoor Learning
in Europe will be of great interest to academics, researchers and
postgraduate students in the fields of outdoor education,
leadership and recreation; and outdoor, sport, environmental and
leisure studies. It should also be essential reading for those
involved in outdoor organisations in Europe and worldwide.

This book presents research on the history of criminology from the
late-eighteenth to the mid-twentieth century in Western Europe
(Austria, Britain, France, Germany, Italy) and in Argentina,
Australia, Japan, and the United States. Approaching the history of
criminology as a history of science and practice, the essays
examine the discourse on crime and criminals that surfaced as part
of different discourses and practices, including the activities of
the police and the courts, parliamentary debates, media reports, as
well as the writings of moral statisticians, jurists, and medical
doctors. In addition, the book seeks to elucidate the relationship
between criminological discourse and politics, society, and culture
by providing a comparative study of the worldwide reception of
Cesare Lombroso's criminal-anthropological ideas.
Republicanism and Liberalism in America and the German States
represents the cooperative effort of a group of American and German
scholars to move the historical debate on Republicanism and
Liberalism to a new stage. Previously, the relationship between
Republican and Liberal ideas, concepts and world views has been
discussed in the context of American revolutionary and late
eighteenth-century history. While the German states did not
experience successful revolutions like those in North America and
France, Republican and Liberal ideas and 'language' deeply affected
German political thinking and culture, especially in the southern
states. The essays published in this book expand the time frame of
the debate into the first half of the nineteenth century, applying
an innovative and comparative German-American perspective. By
systematically studying the similarities and differences in the
understanding of Republicanism and Liberalism in the United States
and German states, the collection stimulates efforts toward a
comprehensive interpretation of political, intellectual and social
developments in the 'modernizing' Atlantic world of the eighteenth
and nineteenth centuries.

Over the last two decades, the "new international order" of 1919
has grown into an expansive new area of research across multiple
disciplines. With the League of Nations at its heart, the interwar
settlement's innovations in international organizations,
international law, and many other areas shaped the world we know
today. This book presents the first study of the relationship
between this new international order and the new regional order in
Central and Eastern Europe after the collapse of the Habsburg
empire. An analysis of the co-implication of these two orders is
grounded in four key scholarly interventions: understanding the
legacies of empire in international organizations; examining
regionalism in the work of interwar international institutions;
creating an integrated history of the interwar order in Europe; and
testing recent claims of the conceptual connection between
nationalism and internationalism. With chapters covering
international health, international financial oversight, human
trafficking, minority rights, scientific networks, technical
expertise, passports, commercial treaties, borders and citizenship,
and international policing, this book pioneers a regional approach
to international order, and explores the origins of today's global
governance in the wake of imperial collapse.

Document from the year 2014 in the subject Law - Comparative Legal
Systems, Comparative Law, language: English, abstract: On December
08, 2007 the new Civil Code of Cambodia was promulgated by Royal
Kram NS/RKM/1207/030. Together with the Criminal Code, the Civil
Procedure Codes and the Criminal Code it was defined as both a
fundamental law as well as a strategic objective of the Council for
the Legal and Judicial Reforms. This legislation was part of the
first phase of the "Plan of Action for Implementing the Legal and
Judicial Reform Strategy" which was implemented by the Royal
Government of Cambodia on 29 April 2005. The impetus for the
Cambodian government to set out a policy on legal and judicial
reform came from the plan to enter WTO. Due to the fact that most
of the legal provisions dealing with civil matters have been
scattered and insufficient, a compilation of those legal texts
followed by updated provisions was required. This was the impetus
for drafting a new Civil Code with a unified, consistent and
complete set of civil laws. This is why the Civil Code has become
the core piece of legislation in the private law sector regulating
the most areas of private life, including business activities and
property rights. The new Civil Code of the Kingdom of Cambodia has
been developed, since 2001, with technical assistance from Japanese
legal academics from various universities in Japan through a JICA
grant administered by the International Civil and Commercial Law
Centre Foundation According to Se. 1305 the new Code did not take
effect until transition law (Law on Application of the Civil Code)
was promulgated on May 31, 2011 and set in effect on December 21,
2011. However, this Civil Code is not totally new to Cambodia as a
similar Code applied for more than 55 years, until the Khmer Rouge
abolished it. However the next section shows that even during this
period of time ordinary Cambodians were not be familiar with the
legislation imported from Europe. Th"

and German support for eastward enlargement of the EU has been
crucial in driving the process forward and giving it momentum;
unless this commitment continues, and strengthens, the process
could falter. Yet, not only have Britain and Germany had very
different views on EU integration for many years, they also have
differnt geopolitical interests and very different levels of
economic involvement in central and eastern Europe. In this book,
leading British and German experts present a new analysis of
British and German interests in enlargement and assesses
contemporary policy approaches. Based on economic analysis, policy
documentation and interviews with key policy-makers, they consider
the scope for Britain and Germany to work together on enlargement,
as well as highlighting the areas that could drive them apart.

internationalen und bilateralen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit gegeben;
internationale Entwicklungszusammenarbeit zusammenzufassen, damit
konnen, ohne zuvor alle Informa-tionen erneut selbst recherchieren

Rechtsphilosophie, Rechtssoziologie, Rechtsgeschichte, -, Sprache:
This book is about authority, more precisely, about figures of
authority. The editors have put together an international group of
renowned scholars to discuss the emergence of modern notions of
authority from different angles. Modern authority is no longer
legitimated by status and social position, but rather by
institutional affiliation and performance. To research the
genealogy and intricacies of this kind of authority, the chapters
in this volume cast a closer look at the various institutional
actors on whom authority has been bestowed. The authors use a case
study approach to look at the instances in which modern authority
emerged, was ridiculed, contested, or even failed. Taken together,
the individual contributions shed new light on the intricate
relationship between the subjects and their organisations; they
challenge any Whig historiography of rationalisation and
modernisation, and they help us to rethink the inter-relationship
between modern and even postmodern institutional arrangements on
the one hand, and their subjects on the other.
