Peter Chan directs this Hong Kong martial arts drama that sees an
incredibly scrupulous detective on the trail of a former criminal
who has attempted to start a new life. Set in 1917, the film finds
Liu Jinxi (Donnie Yen) and his wife Ayu (Wei Tang) living quietly
in a small village. Their sense of tranquillity is disrupted when a
pair of robbers descend on the local store and Liu's intervention
results in their death. Detective Xu Baijiu (Takeshi Kaneshiro), a
man so faithfully attached to the law he values it above human
life, arrives in the village to investigate and is immediately

The Bare Truth has continued growing since our first edition last
year. This year, in an effort to continue fighting stereotypical
definitions of beauty, we have invited men to join us. Our models
are still braving their demons to speak candidly and powerfully
about their experiences and struggles, empowering themselves as
agents of change and protagonists of awareness. Our models have
again stepped into the spotlight this year and bared all in a
movement to show the world that we are all different, and we're all
beautiful; and to hopefully show themselves this as well. Our
wonderful staff are all volunteers, and our models come from a wide
range of ethnic backgrounds, body shapes and walks of life. This
represents not only the diversity of race and physical appearance
that is not typically showcased by the mass media, but is also an
effort to showcase how these issues affect us all. The Bare Truth
aims to raise awareness for healthy body image and self esteem,
gender issues, sexuality, the diversity of body shape, size, colour
and gender, and for mental health issues, bullying, harassment and
abuse, and to combat the stigma surrounding them.
Three short films directed by Asian horror's most controversial
directors. Fruit Chan directs a forty-minute cut of his earlier
film 'Dumplings', with newly shot footage. 'Box' is directed by
Takashi Miike, and follows a romantic novelist who is haunted by a
childhood trauma. Finally, 'Cut' is directed by Chan-Wook Park, and
follows a disgruntled film extra who forces an affable director to
prove that he has a nasty streak of his own.
