This textbook presents concepts and applications of Management
Accounting, one of the main approaches used by management to
support future organisational performance. It covers methods and
instruments of management and cost accounting, cost management, and
management control and is based on the German textbook "Interne
Unternehmensrechnung" by Ralf Ewert and Alfred Wagenhofer
(Springer). The authors describe the managerial uses of accounting
information, both for decision-making and decision-influencing, and
provide a broad perspective on the subject combining the academic
foundations of the field with recent cutting-edge research results.
Moreover, traditions of German accounting theory and practice that
are little known outside of the German-speaking countries are
reflected in the book. With its unique approach based on
information economics, the textbook offers a comprehensive and
innovative presentation to a global audience.

What makes this book so interesting is the incredible range of
positions Peter Cleary held in his nearly 40 years in the motor
industry. He lived and worked in Europe, the United States,
Australia, and in several locations in his native South Africa. And
he worked for Ford, Mercedes-Benz and the motor dealerships he
started.
Experiences range from negotiating to purchase a shareholding in
Mazda at their factory in Hiroshima, less than a generation after
the atomic bomb hit that city; market research in Sao Paulo;
introducing Japanese products into a German company; dealing with
the Competitions Committee; winning Dealer of the Year awards and
many, many more.
Then there is the insight he brings because of his unusual
experience of working at the top level in both the retail and
wholesale sides of the motor industry. And throughout the book the
common themes are his love of marketing and leadership.
The book contains many personal anecdotes and these are
illuminated by some of the poetry he has written in recent years,
giving the reader a feel for the character and values of the
author.
This book examines the systematic constraints on US law enforcement
agencies to regulate business behaviour. It looks specifically at
the post-war development of laws regulating water pollution and at
the Environmental Protection Agency's efforts to enforce them. The
discussion traces the factors leading to legal change and analyzes
the ways in which the impacts of environmental laws vary from their
stated purposes and goals, even under relatively favourable
conditions for their enforcement. It shows how legal processes and
social relations mutually constrain and shape one another as the
state struggles to manage often contradictory responsibilities, in
this case to encourage both economic growth and environmental
welfare. The book is principally directed at social scientists and
their students in the areas of sociology of law, public policy,
political sociology, political economy and criminology. It is also
directed at legal and policy practitioners in environmental
regulation and educated lay readers concerned with environmental
policy.
