This book focuses on conversation analysis in Czech, including the prosody-syntax-interface and online-syntax in real time that deals with turn initiating elements in everyday conversations. By combining a pragmatic formal theory with a formal syntax model, this book serves as a guide to the problems of syntax, semantics, and pragmatics of spoken everyday talk and as a handbook on conversational analysis.

Scientific insight is obtained through the processes of description, explanation, and prediction. Yet grammatical theory has seen a major divide regarding not only the methods of data eliciting and the kinds of data evaluated, but also with respect to the interpretation of these data, including the very notions of explanation and prediction themselves. The editors of the volume organized a conference bringing together adherents of two major strands of grammatical theory illustrating this clash, traditionally grouped under the labels of formalist and functionalist theories. The book offers a comprehensive overview of current research in Slavic linguistics from a theoretical and experimental perspective and from a variety of languages. The selected papers from the 11th European Conference on Formal Description of Slavic Languages (FDSL 11) that took place at the University of Potsdam in 2015, illustrate the advancement of Slavic linguistic studies and their outreach for the development of general linguistics. The guest paper by Noam Chomsky at the beginning of the book sets a clear sign in this direction and may be taken as an acknowledgement of the field.

Die Studie zeigt die Existenz verschiedener Ausdrucksmoeglichkeiten des Erfolgs und der Erfolgsrelationen in den aspektualen Systemen der tschechischen und der deutschen Sprache. Sie beschreibt diese Mittel detailliert anhand kontrastiver Analysen von tschechischen und deutschen Verben und Verbpaaren, damit die Sprachbenutzer und -benutzerinnen vor allem bei der UEbersetzung dieser semantischen Nuancen im Tschechischen die jeweilige Nuance identifizieren und aquivalent im Deutschen darstellen koennen. Der Autor stellt Loesungsvorschlage in Woerterbuchern und UEbersetzungen dar und fuhrt eine UEbersicht der Moeglichkeiten an, die zum Ausdruck der semantischen Relation im Deutschen gebraucht werden koennen.

In der Forschung zur Wortbildung sind auch in jungeren Publikationen einige Punkte strittig. Das betrifft im Deutschen die Fugenelemente sowie ihre Rolle bei der Komposition und im Polnischen die Interfixe -o-, -i-, -y-, die Wortbildungen aus dem prapositionalen Ausdruck sowie die sog. Wortgruppen. Dieses Buch liefert eine detaillierte Neuanalyse der einschlagigen nominalen Wortbildungsprozesse und einen Vergleich von Entsprechungen zwischen den beiden Sprachen. Es verwendet dabei den Rahmen der Integrativen Sprachwissenschaft in der Fassung von Hans-Heinrich Lieb (und enthalt einen Anhang zum Prozessmodell der Wortbildung von ihm). Untersuchungen zu bestimmten Problemen des Polnischen - insbesondere zur Wortakzentuierung und den Konjugationsklassen - fuhren zu neuen Ergebnissen. Dabei wird die Methode der genauen Analyse reprasentativer Beispiele verwendet.

Die Publikation zu Sprachwandelprozessen im Russischen und Ukrainischen beschreibt eine ausschlaggebende Phase der neueren Sprachgeschichte Russlands und der Ukraine (1985-2008). Im Fokus steht die Anglisierung als eine der Haupttendenzen der aktuellen sprachlichen Destandardisierung europaischer Sprachen. Die Autorin zeigt am Beispiel der Anglisierung in der Werbesprache die Destandardisierung des Russischen und Ukrainischen nach 1985 auf. Diese korpusbasierte Untersuchung umfasst sowohl die quantitative (statistische) als auch die qualitative (systemlinguistische) Analyse des werbesprachlichen Korpus. Die quantitative chronologische Analyse belegt die deutlich starkere Dynamik der Anglisierung im Ukrainischen nach 1998. Die qualitative Analyse illustriert die unterschiedlichen bzw. gemeinsamen innerlinguistischen Prozesse in beiden Sprachen, insbesondere Anglizismen-Integration und Standardisierungswege.

Das Buch stellt einen Versuch dar, die Reflexivitat von deutschen Verben ausgehend von den UEbersetzungsaquivalenten im Tschechischen zu prognostizieren. Aufgrund der AEquivalenzbeziehung zwischen nicht-reflexiven Verben im Tschechischen und Deutschen und verschiedenen grammatischen Parametern erstellt der Autor Prognosen zur Reflexivitat der deutschen AEquivalente zu den reflexiven tschechischen Verben. Dies geschieht ohne Ruckgriff auf lexikographische Information. Dabei kristallisieren sich sowohl sprachubergreifend ubereinstimmende sowie problematische Bereiche der Reflexivitat heraus. Gewissermassen nebenbei pruft der Autor verschiedene linguistische Theorien auf ihre prognostische Kraft hinsichtlich der Reflexivitat.

Formal Slavic Linguistics is concerned with explicit descriptions of structure and meaning of Slavic languages within a certain theoretical framework of Principles and Parameters that attempts to situate linguistic theory in the broader cognitive sciences.
