This book reviews the devastating impacts modernist avant-garde, Marxism, some feminisms and postmodernism have enacted - through paranoia, blame, cynicism - on beauty, hope and desire. Oppositional epistemologies deliberately eviscerated the possibilities and standing of beauty in criticism as well as in lived experience.
