Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts the Philharmonia Orchestra in a special
performance of Holst's 'The Planets Suite'. For the first time, the
viewer is given a unique view of the performance from the heart of
the orchestra, as 37 High-Definition cameras placed at a variety of
angles offer a never-before-seen glimpse of the orchestra at work.
The concert also includes a new commission by UK composer Joby
Talbot: 'Worlds, Stars, Systems, Infinity'.
André Previn conducts the Philharmonia Orchestra and Chorus in this
performance featuring three works by British composer William
Walton. Captured at London's Royal Festival Hall in 1982, the
concert includes Walton's Coronation March 'Orb and Sceptre',
Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in B Minor and 'Belshazzar's
Feast'. The soloists are violinist Kyung-Wha Chung and baritone
Thomas Allen.
