The "POEM" generically is the most colorful literary facility for articulating ideas - whether of philosophical discourse, romantic rhapsody, or socio-political protest - a kaleidoscopic omnibus. Underlying this is the fact of poetry as a potent mechanism for actuating the power of language. I have put together this work, my first, essentially as a testimonial to this personal perception of the versatile vitality of the art form - a labor of love. "Calabash of Colors" is therefore a vigorously varied pot-pourri of poems within which scope of structures, from metaphor-dense verses to easy-rolling prose-poems. I hope to have actuated some of poetry's power and color.
