Coupled Atmosphere-Ocean Dynamics of Climate Variability and
Climate Change presents the patterns, mechanisms, and
predictability of climate variability and anthropogenic climate
change. Based on a graduate course the author has taught over 25
years, this book provides the physical foundation for those who are
interested in fundamental questions such as: why climate varies
from one year to another; how predictable climate is; and how
climate will change in the face of increasing greenhouse gases in
the atmosphere. This is the first comprehensive and systematic
treatment of this subject that simultaneously draws on the latest
research and is accessible for graduate students. The book takes a
step-by-step systematic approach to coupled ocean-atmosphere
interactions. This allows a wide range of comparative views:
climate modes among and across different tropical ocean basins,
ocean feedback on the atmosphere (in and out of the tropics), and
spontaneous internal oscillation versus externally forced climate
change. Such comparative views offer unprecedented insight into the
dynamics of climate variability and predictability. This book can
be used as supplementary reading for advanced undergraduate
students, as coursework in climate dynamics, modeling, variability,
and change, and as a reference book and research monograph for
researchers in ocean, atmospheric, climate, and earth system
sciences.
This book is about internet finance, a concept coined by the
authors in 2012. Internet finance deals specifically with the
impacts of internet based technologies, such as mobile payments,
social networks, search engines, cloud computation, and big data,
on the financial sector. Major types of internet finance include
third-party payments and mobile payments, internet currency, P2P
lending, crowdfunding, and the use of big data in financial
activities. Internet finance is highly popular and heavily
discussed in China. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang made the healthy
development of internet finance a policy priority in 2014
state-of-union address. This book, as a detailed report on internet
finance in China, will help readers understand the status quo and
development of China's financial system.

This book gives a review of the author's previous work on modelling
of the processive nucleotide and repeat addition translocations by
recombinant Tetrahymena telomerase and proposes an analogous model
for recombinant human telomerase. With the models, the dynamics of
primer dissociation from the two enzymes and the dynamics of repeat
addition translocation by the two enzymes are theoretically studied
and compared in detail.
1, 3-Butadiene is a cigarette smoke constituent with great
contributions to smoke cancer risk. 1, 3- Butadiene is also an
important chemical used in the production of synthetic rubber.
1,3-Butadiene has been categorized as a human carcinogen by the
International Agency of Research on Cancer. Crotonaldehyde is an
ubiquitous chemical that exists in the environment and
endogenously, and is one of the most important aldehydes of human
health concern. Crotonaldehyde has been shown to cause adverse
biological effects in cell culture and animal studies, such as
oxidative stress, inflammation, reacting with DNA and protein,
mutation induction, and carcinogenicity. Studies have demonstrated
that Crotonaldehyde is involved in human diseases, such as chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Alzheimer's disease, etc.
This book reviewed the physical, chemical, and biological
characteristics of 1, 3-butadiene and crotonaldehdye and evaluated
their toxicological effects in cell cultures and in experimental
animals.
