A large 2008 ISECS International Colloquium on Computing,
Communication, Control, and Management (CCCM 2008), was held in
Guangzhou, August 2008, China. Just like the name of the
Colloquium, the theme for this conference is Advancing Computing,
Communication, Control, and Management Technologies. 2008 ISECS
International Colloquium on Computing, Communication, Control, and
Management is co-sponsored by Guangdong University of Business
Studies, China, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Russia,
Central South University, China, Southwestern University of Finance
& Economics, China, and University of Amsterdam, Netherlands.
It is also co-sponsored IEEE Technology Management Council, IEEE
Computer Society, and Intelligent Information Technology
Application Research Institute. Much work went into preparing a
program of high quality. We received about 972 submissions. Every
paper was reviewed by 3 program committee members, about 382 were
selected as regular papers, representing a 39% acceptance rate for
regular papers. The CCCM conferences serve as good platforms for
the engineering community to meet with each other and to exchange
ideas. The conference has also stroke a balance between theoretical
and application development. The conference committees have been
formed with over two hundred committee members who are mainly
research center heads, faculty deans, department heads, professors,
and research scientists from over 30 countries. The conferences are
truly international meetings with a high level of participation
from many countries. The response that we have received for the
congress is excellent. This volume contains revised and extended
research articles written by prominent researchers participating in
the conference.
This title was first published in 2001. The 1980s and 1990s were
not only a period in which many developing countries adopted a
series of major economic policy reforms, but also an era in which
all socialist countries undertook varying degrees of radical
reforms in their Soviet-style central-planning economic management
systems. This volume examines the performance of China's industrial
reform and open-door policy during the period of 1980-1997 through
conducting a case study on one of its Special Economic Zones
(SEZs), Xiamen. It adopts an analytical approach - examining
Xiamen's performance from the perspective of three important
interactions: between the country's general economic reform
policies and the Special Policy implemented in the SEZs; between
the Xiamen SEZ and the vast Chinese hinterland; and between foreign
(especially Taiwanese) direct investment and local industrial
transformation.
The 2014 Asia-Pacific Congress on Sports Technology and Engineering
(STE 2014) was held in Singapore, December 8-9, 2014. STE2014 was a
comprehensive conference focused on various aspects of advances in
Sports Technology and Engineering. Topics covered by the
contributions to this proceedings volume include but are not
limited to Sports Science, Computer Science, Computer Science in
Sports, and Sports Engineering.
The purpose of WNIS 2009, the 2009 International Conference on
Wireless N- works and Information Systems, is to bring together
researchers, engineers and practitioners interested on information
systems and applications in the context of wireless networks and
mobile technologies. Information systems and information technology
are pervasive in the whole communications field, which is quite
vast, encompassing a large number of research topics and
applications: from practical issues to the more abstract th-
retical aspects of communication; from low level protocols to
high-level netwo- ing and applications; from wireless networking
technologies to mobile infor- tion systems; many other topics are
included in the scope of WNIS 2009. The WNIS 2009 will be held in
Shanghai, China, in December 2009. We cordially invite you to
attend the 2009 International Conference on Wireless N- works and
Information Systems. We are soliciting papers that present recent
results, as well as more speculative presentations that discuss
research challenges, define new applications, and propose
methodologies for evaluating and the road map for achieving the
vision of wireless networks and mobile technologies. The WNIS 2009
is co-sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics
Engineers, the IEEE Shanghai Section, the Intelligent Information
Technology Application Research Association, Hong Kong and Wuhan
Institute of Techn- ogy, China. The purpose of the WNIS 2009 is to
bring together researchers and practitioners from academia,
industry, and government to exchange their research ideas and
results and to discuss the state of the art in the areas of the
symposium.

The 2009 International Conference on High-Performance Networking,
Computing and Communication Systems and the 2009 International
Conference on Theoretical and Mathematical Foundations of Computer
Science (ICHCC -ICTMF 2009) were held during December 13-14, 2009,
in Sanya, Hainan Island, China. ICHCC -ICTMF 2009 was a
comprehensive conference focused on the various aspects of advances
in high-performance networking, computing, communication systems
and mathematical foundations. The conferences provided a chance for
academic and industry profe- ionals to discuss recent progress in
the area of high-performance networking, com- ting, communication
systems and mathematical foundations. The conferences were
co-sponsored by the Intelligent Information Technology Application
Research Association, Hong Kong and Wuhan Institute of Technology,
China. The goal was to bring together researchers from academia and
industry as well as practitioners to share ideas, problems and
solutions relating to the multifaceted aspects of this area. We
received 60 submissions. Every paper was reviewed by three Program
C- mittee members, and 15 were selected as regular papers for ICHCC
-ICTMF 2009, representing a 25% acceptance rate for regular papers.
The participants of the conference had the chance to hear from
renowned keynote speakers Jun Wang from The Chinese University of
Hong Kong, Hong Kong and Chin-Chen Chang from Feng Chia University,
Taiwan. We thank Springer, who enthusiastically supported our
conference. Thanks also go to Leonie Kunz for her wonderful
editorial assistance. We would also like to thank the Program
Chairs, - ganization staff, and the members of the Program
Committees for their hard work.
