This title was first published in 2001. The 1980s and 1990s were not only a period in which many developing countries adopted a series of major economic policy reforms, but also an era in which all socialist countries undertook varying degrees of radical reforms in their Soviet-style central-planning economic management systems. This volume examines the performance of China's industrial reform and open-door policy during the period of 1980-1997 through conducting a case study on one of its Special Economic Zones (SEZs), Xiamen. It adopts an analytical approach - examining Xiamen's performance from the perspective of three important interactions: between the country's general economic reform policies and the Special Policy implemented in the SEZs; between the Xiamen SEZ and the vast Chinese hinterland; and between foreign (especially Taiwanese) direct investment and local industrial transformation.

Much work went into preparing a program of high quality. We received about 972 submissions. Every paper was reviewed by 3 program committee members, about 382 were selected as regular papers, representing a 39% acceptance rate for regular papers. The CCCM conferences serve as good platforms for the engineering community to meet with each other and to exchange ideas. The conference has also stroke a balance between theoretical and application development. The conference committees have been formed with over two hundred committee members who are mainly research center heads, faculty deans, department heads, professors, and research scientists from over 30 countries. The conferences are truly international meetings with a high level of participation from many countries. The response that we have received for the congress is excellent. This volume contains revised and extended research articles written by prominent researchers participating in the conference.

Sports Engineering and Computer Science contains papers presented at the 2014 International Conference on Sport Science and Computer Science (SSCS 2014), held September 16-17, 2014 in Singapore and at the 2014 International Conference on Biomechanics and Sports Engineering (BSE 2014), held October 24-25, 2014, in Riga, Latvia. The contributions have been grouped under the following five headings: Section 1: Education, physical education and training; Section 2: Social sports and sports economy; Section 3: Computer science and applications in sport; Section 4: Materials science; and Section 5: Biomedical. The 2009 International Conference on High-Performance Networking, Computing and Communication Systems and the 2009 International Conference on Theoretical and Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science (ICHCC -ICTMF 2009) were held during December 13-14, 2009, in Sanya, Hainan Island, China. ICHCC -ICTMF 2009 was a comprehensive conference focused on the various aspects of advances in high-performance networking, computing, communication systems and mathematical foundations. The conferences provided a chance for academic and industry profe- ionals to discuss recent progress in the area of high-performance networking, com- ting, communication systems and mathematical foundations. The conferences were co-sponsored by the Intelligent Information Technology Application Research Association, Hong Kong and Wuhan Institute of Technology, China. The goal was to bring together researchers from academia and industry as well as practitioners to share ideas, problems and solutions relating to the multifaceted aspects of this area. We received 60 submissions. Every paper was reviewed by three Program C- mittee members, and 15 were selected as regular papers for ICHCC -ICTMF 2009, representing a 25% acceptance rate for regular papers. The participants of the conference had the chance to hear from renowned keynote speakers Jun Wang from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong and Chin-Chen Chang from Feng Chia University, Taiwan.
