This book constitutes the proceedings of the 16th International
Conference on Service-Oriented Computing, ICSOC 2018, held in
Hangzhou, China, in November 2018. The 63 full papers presented
together with 3 keynotes in this volume were carefully reviewed and
selected from numerous submissions. The papers have been organized
in the following topical sections: Microservices; Services and
Processes; Service Trust and Security; Business Services and
Processes; Edge + IoT Services; Social and Interactive Services;
Recommendation; Service Analytics; Quality of Service; Service
Engineering; Service Applications; Service Management.
Foundations for Efficient Web Service Selection describes the
foundational framework for efficient Web service selection. It lays
out a theoretical underpinning for the design of models and
algorithms for searching and optimizing access to Web services.
Excerpts from Prof. Fabio Casati's foreword: " This excellent book
looks at the search problem from a broader perspective. Instead of
narrowing down on a specific aspect or subproblem of service
search, it dissects and analyzes the fundamental problems in search
and presents concrete, applicable solutions as well as the
theoretical foundations behind them...One aspect I found
particularly significant in the book is the mind shift it generates
from thinking about service modeling for the sake of supporting
deployment or invocation to modeling for supporting search. This
design for search approach is exactly what we do when we design
databases because search is what we worry about in that case, and
there is no reason why this shouldn't be the case for services if
we want services to be searchable with a similar effectiveness."

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the
2012 ICSOC Workshops consisting of 6 scientific satellite events,
organized in 3 main tracks including workshop track (ASC, DISA.
PAASC, SCEB, SeMaPS and WESOA 2012), PhD symposium track,
demonstration track; held in conjunction with the 10th
International Conference on Service-Oriented Computing (ICSOC), in
Shanghai, China, November 2012. The 53 revised papers presents a
wide range of topics that fall into the general area of service
computing such as business process management, distributed systems,
computer networks, wireless and mobile computing, grid computing,
networking, service science, management science, and software
engineering.

Strength theory deals with the yield or failure of materials under
complex stress state. It is very important in mechanics of
materials, strength of structures, and mechanical and civil
engineering. Unified strength theory is a series of yield criteria
and failure criteria other than a single strength theory. The
unified strength theory can be adopted for various kinds of
materials, such as metallic materials, geomaterials, polymers etc.
It is the solution to the Voigt-Timoshenko Conundrum. Its limit
surfaces cover all regions of the convex strength theory from the
lower bound to the upper bound. This book gives a clear and brief
description about the unified strength theory both in figures and
text. Some applications of unified strength theory are also given
in this book. This book is suitable for undergraduate students, who
are studying the mechanics of materials and engineering mechanics,
as well as for graduate students who are interested in this field.
Researchers and engineers can also benefit from this book.
