This book summarizes the progress made to functional immobilize G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) through site-specific or orientated recognition in both non-covalent and covalent manners. The last decade is the dawn of the "post-structural biology" era for G protein-coupled receptor research. As an emerging approach for state-of-the-art immobilization, this book discusses efforts to explore the elegance of naturally-occurring biochemical reactions by using their high specificity and robust reactivity in the complex system, such as site-specific conjugation by covalent recognition between enzymes and their substrates. With the perspective of protein-drug interactions, this book also reviews the applications of protein immobilization, with an emphasis on G protein-coupled receptors, in drug discovery and protein-ligand interaction analysis. The Loess Plateau of China is unique in the world. For a long time many measures have been taken to improve the living condition and income of local farmers, agroforestry is one of the efficient ways. There are some intercropping models in the area, it is urgent to probe into the interaction among different species from the eco-informatics point of view to optimize the models. Therefore, allelopathic effects existing among intercropping species of the agroforestry systems practiced by local farmers in the loess area of northern Wei River of China, especially those of Juglans regia, Eucommia ulmoides, Acer trancatum, Prunus salicina on some crops and Chinese medicinal herbs, are revealed in the book. The releasing routines and the impacts of allelochemicals on germination and growth of seedlings of the crops and herbs, the characteristics of soil and rhizosphere, the effect mechanism, etc. are analyzed. The data collected, the intercropping models optimized and the management techniques suggested are valuable references for those who are interested in research and practice of agroforestry and allelopathy.

Missing data often arises in regression analysis either by study design or stochastic censoring. Restriction of analysis to complete observations may yield biased inferences. Developing likelihood-based methods for analyzing missing data in a regression setting has largely focused on missing values in the dependent variable. In this book, we discuss two likelihood-based approaches to inference for the regression of multivariate categorical outcomes on a set of covariates when some of the covariate values are missing. Specifically, this research seeks to develop methodologies in the context of latent variable models that (i) synthesize multiple outcomes into an latent construct that is easily interpretable yet retains relevant heterogeneity in individual outcomes; (ii) account for measurement inaccuracy in observable outcomes; (iii) model the association between the latent construct and covariates; (iv) handle missing covariate data in both ignorable and nonignorable cases. This book should be of particular interest to psychosocial scientists and others who plan to use latent variables models, but are discouraged by the daunting analytical difficulties associated with missing data.
