Die Arbeit eroeffnet eine neue Perspektive auf das eigentumliche Phanomen, dass bestimmte komplexe Verben nicht in Verbzweitstellung (V2) auftreten koennen. Satze wie "Der Regisseur urauffuhrt das Stuck." bzw. "Der Regisseur fuhrt das Stuck urauf." werden allgemein als ungrammatikalisch abgewiesen. In Verbletztstellung ("..., dass der Regisseur das Stuck urauffuhrt.") koennen diese Verben allerdings problemlos verwendet werden. Wahrend bisherige Analysen einen monokausalen Erklarungsansatz fur die Stellungsrestriktion verfolgten, wird mittels empirischer Verfahren gezeigt, dass das Phanomen durch ein komplexes Zusammenspiel verschiedenster Faktoren begrundet ist. Die Kernthese ist, dass die meisten der sog. NonV2-Verben gar keine Verben sind, sondern Substantive oder Adjektive. Faktoren, die gemeinhin als stellungsrestringierend gelten, hemmen letztlich das Auftreten finiter Verbformen. Dies spricht dafur, dass eine syntaktische Blockierungsregel als unabhangiges Phanomen gar nicht existiert, sondern ein Epiphanomen anderer Faktoren darstellt.
