This monograph is an account of some problems involving diffusion
or diffusion with simultaneous reaction that can be illuminated by
the use of variational principles. It was written during a period
that included sabbatical leaves of one of us (W. S. ) at the
University of Minnesota and the other (R. A. ) at the University of
Cambridge and we are grateful to the Petroleum Research Fund for
helping to support the former and the Guggenheim Foundation for
making possible the latter. We would also like to thank Stephen
Prager for getting us together in the first place and for showing
how interesting and useful these methods can be. We have also
benefitted from correspondence with Dr. A. M. Arthurs of the
University of York and from the counsel of Dr. B. D. Coleman the
general editor of this series. Table of Contents Chapter 1.

Ari Squires' message is simple: reclaim your destiny by releasing
your unlimited potential. The challenge is summoning the courage to
break the emotional, mental, and social chains that prevent us from
being the successful, fulfilled, productive, happy person we are
meant to be. "We are afraid of our own truth so we will cling to
people and things that are no longer serving, nurturing, or
supporting us," she explains. "How can we ever walk in our truth if
we are afraid to be who we are?" Release the Chains is the ultimate
woman's guide to achieving your personal and professional goals by
providing the tools and mindset needed to conquer your inner critic
that holds you back from reaching your full potential. Life Design
Strategist Ari Squires knows firsthand the consequences of hiding
behind oneself. Despite being raised in a good home and educated in
quality schools, low self-esteem led her to pursue a life in the
streets. A self-described hustla, Ari's criminal pursuits,
recounted in painfully honest detail, eventually led to a
life-changing prison sentence. She shares riveting stories of her
incarceration and her struggles once freed with unhealthy
relationships, homelessness, and betrayal. But rather than let life
beat her down and keep her from achieving her goals, Ari summoned
strength from within after realizing she was the only person
holding herself back. "We can only change the world to the extent
that we can change ourselves," she says, "and it starts with
releasing your chains."
