Charged Particle Optics Theory: An Introduction identifies the most
important concepts of charged particle optics theory, and derives
each mathematically from the first principles of physics. Assuming
an advanced undergraduate-level understanding of calculus, this
book follows a logical progression, with each concept building upon
the preceding one. Beginning with a non-mathematical survey of the
optical nature of a charged particle beam, the text: Discusses both
geometrical and wave optics, as well as the correspondence between
them Describes the two-body scattering problem, which is essential
to the interaction of a fast charged particle with matter
Introduces electron emission as a practical consequence of quantum
mechanics Addresses the Fourier transform and the linear
second-order differential equation Includes problems to amplify and
fill in the theoretical details, with solutions presented
separately Charged Particle Optics Theory: An Introduction makes an
ideal textbook as well as a convenient reference on the theoretical
origins of the optics of charged particle beams. It is intended to
prepare the reader to understand the large body of published
research in this mature field, with the end result translated
immediately to practical application.
This book has a practical purpose. It seeks to help the reader to
understand himself and his problems, that he may increase his
successes, his fruit, and his satisfactions. The discussion centers
about the conditions that shape personality, but the attempt of the
book is not to rehearse the findings and theories of science but to
provide the means by which the reader can come to a better
understanding of himself.

This book explores the culture of migration that emerged in Malawi
in the early twentieth century as the British colony became central
to labour migration in southern Africa. Migrants who travelled to
Zimbabwe stayed for years or decades, and those who never returned
became known as machona - 'the lost ones'. Through an analysis of
colonial archives and oral histories, this book captures a range of
migrant experiences during a period of enormous political change,
including the rise of nationalist politics, and the creation and
demise of the Central African Federation. Following migrants from
origin to destination, and in some cases back again, this book
explores gender, generation, ethnicity and class, and highlights
life beyond the workplace in a racially segregated city. Malawian
men and women shaped the culture and politics of urban Zimbabwe in
ways that remain visible today. Ultimately, the voluntary movement
of Africans within the African continent raises important questions
about the history of diaspora communities and the politics of
belonging in post-colonial Africa.

How do school leaders build a collaborative, cohesive culture to
ensure high quality learning for all students? This book provides a
practical, succinct guide for educators on "how" the core elements
of the accreditation process can unite a school in its
transformative, continuous improvement journey. The authors explain
"what is accreditation" and elaborate on using the core elements
for schoolwide involvement and collaboration in determining the
effectiveness of a school's program and systems and the impact on
student learning through a perpetual cycle of assessing, planning,
implementing, monitoring and reassessing. The authors clarify the
"why" of accreditation and provide case studies of schools that
have used accreditation as a coherent framework to build the
capacity for change. The lessons learned from many educators
embracing accreditation also provide further insights. Readers will
deepen their understanding of how the accreditation process honors
educators' desire to be self-directed in their passion for learning
and well-being for all students. They will understand how
accreditation builds and strengthens the trust, engagement,
ownership and dialogue among all, viewing the school as a
professional learning community. Educational leaders will value the
book for its realistic approach to connecting the dots of
leadership, coherence, continuous improvement through
accreditation.

Trauma can result in a variety of symptoms and problems such as
behavioral disorders, emotional dysregulation, sleep disturbances,
recurring nightmares, intrusive thoughts, and learning and academic
challenges. Children and adolescents who have posttraumatic stress
disorder are usually presented to therapists in one of four
clinical situations: (1) the traumatized child and parents request
trauma-focused therapy, (2) the child with trauma history refuses
treatment, (3) a parent is impaired by their own trauma history but
does not want to receive treatment, (4) a child has experienced
trauma but the parent wants to focus on a behavioral issue and
symptoms rather than the trauma. Family Therapy for Treating Trauma
offers a stand-alone family therapy approach for trauma survivors
and provides a cross-culturally competent family treatment
framework for working with trauma. It outlines both how to assess
family patterns that reinforce or exacerbate effects of trauma and
how to mobilize the healing power of family relationships to
moderate or resolve effects of trauma. Via an integrative approach,
the book offers flexible ways to adapt to client choices so as to
enhance difficult to engage clients and families. It serves as a
resource for professional audiences and can be offered as a text
for courses on both family therapy and trauma treatment.
