Walt Disney World, the moon landing, shark
attacks????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????these
are things the average person readily associates with Florida, but
geology . . . ? Not so much. Roadside Geology of Florida is fixing
to change that. From the panhandle through the Central Lakes
District all the way to the Dry Tortugas, authors Bryan, Scott, and
Means lead you through a world of cavernous limestone, roiling
springheads, and rock strata containing the remains of some of the
strangest animals that ever walked the Earth. The latest in this
one-of-a-kind series, the Roadside Geology of Florida is divided
into five regions, following Florida's roads to its geological
wonders. Along the roads you'll encounter a sinkhole that swallowed
several buildings in Winter Park; sand dunes stranded high and dry
with no shoreline in sight; and Titanis walleri, a 6-foot-tall,
predatory flightless bird. With its concise descriptions, clearly
written explanations, and voluminous color photographs and
illustrations, this book will enthrall readers as they tour the
Sunshine State, which, by the way, is the most recent addition to
the North American continent.

Written by expert surgeons and educators, Current Therapy in Oral
and Maxillofacial Surgery covers the latest treatment strategies,
surgical techniques, and potential complications in OMS.
Emphasizing an evidence-based approach, it covers all 12
subspecialties of OMS, addressing topics from surgical principles
to oral surgery, anesthesia, cranio-maxillofacial trauma surgery,
head and neck surgery, maxillofacial reconstructive surgery,
orthognathic surgery, pediatric craniofacial surgery including
cleft lip and palate, temporomandibular joint disorders, facial
plastic surgery including rhinoplasty and facelifts, obstructive
sleep apnea, and oral and maxillofacial infections. At the end of
each chapter, Pearls and Pitfalls summarize the authors' insight,
recommendations, and experience on that topic. Editor Dr. Shahrokh

he leads an expert author team including Dr. R. Bryan Bell and Dr.

educators writing on their areas of specialty and providing current
treatment strategies.
Early in its development, the subject matter of any field of
surgery is too ill-defined and opinions are too fluid for the
production of a book on the subject to be possible. Late in its
development, controversy is at an end, and although it is still
possible to produce a textbook, it is too late to produce a book
that might stimulate discussion and crystallise ideas. This book
has that objective, it being the Editor's view that the field of
the surgical treatment of arthritis of the knee had reached an
appropriate intermediate stage in 1978 when this text was written.
Three broad issues stand out as being in need of resolution before
the optimum form of surgical treatment for a given knee can be
defined more convincingly than is possible at present: Firstly:
What symptomatic and physical features of the knee are to be
recorded pre- and post-operatively, upon the basis of which
comparisons can be made between the results obtained by two
different surgeons or with two different tech niques. The
resolution of this issue requires general agreement not only upon
what features of the knee should be recorded but, crucially, upon
how these features should subsequently be presented so as to
characterise a particular group of knees.
The 55 chapters of Friends, Families & Forays are bursting with
details about the people and the pursuits that colored the life of
Henry Ford. Here the reader will meet prominent and diverse figures
such as Thomas Edison, John Borroughs, George Washington Carver,
Helen Keller, and Mahatma Gandhi - all of whose lives intersected
that of Henry Ford at some interesting point in his life. Also
brought to life in these pages are the branches of Ford's family
tree, from his Irish ancestors to the descendants who carry his
legacy today. Although it was the automobile that made him an
industrial icon, Henry Ford could boast of exploits in many other
arenas as well: railroads, speedboats, robots, flour mills, rubber
plantations, and humanitarian efforts around the world and in his
own backyard. Ford's hard work and passionate interests brought him
great wealth, and this book provides a peek at the luxuries he and
his wife, Clara, enjoyed, from a yacht and a private rail car, to
gracious residences in Michigan, Florida, and Georgia.
This field guide has been developed to allow individuals, trained
and experienced in the operation of a light meter, to conduct
assessments of their exterior parking lot's lighting, as a
component of more broadly based efforts to identify and abate risk
to individuals and infrastructure. This field guide is divided into
four sections; the first describing the process for a comprehensive
survey (the most reliable and accurate methodology), the second
statistical sampling, and the third simplified sampling (the least
reliable and accurate). Also discussed is calculated illumination.
