Sacred presents photographs of locations cloaked in mysticism and
imbued with a spiritual energy, exploring the meaning of the sacred
in a global, multicultural context. Countless cultures have found
it in the magnificence of nature and what can be called the divine
gestures of the nature landscape. We looked to the majesty of
snowcapped mountains, the glow of the full moon, the power of a
magical waterfall, the endless sands of the Sahara Desert, the
towering height of the tallest trees and the subtle essence of a
lotus flower. We created remarkable buildings to the essence of
what we felt to be sacred. What is sacred and what do cultures
around the world consider sacred? What is sacred to a Muslim, a
Tibetan monk, a Native American, a Christian elder, an atheist, a
mountaineer, a poet or an artist? Chris Rainier has spent the last
forty years in search of the sacred--from the peaks of Tibet to the
icebergs of Antarctica, from the vibrant mysticism of India to the
mysteries of the Silk Road, from the jungles of New Guinea to the
druid stones of Scotland, and from the deserts of the Southwest
United States to the rock art of aboriginal Australia and Africa.
Rainier's photographs masterfully capture the wonder and awe
inherent to all these sites. Sacred presents photographs from this
lifelong journey. The collection offers spiritually driven glimpses
of ancient monuments and haunting landscapes from around the
world--each echoing with the energy of timeless and sacred power
places. RENOWN PHOTOGRAPHER AND AUTHOR: Chris Rainier is a

This book is an examination of multiracial identity politics in the
United States and of the specific issues surrounding Office of
Management and Budget's review-the parties concerned, the history
of federal racial categorization, and the significance of the new
rules on race in America.
This book represents the proceedings of the first major
international meeting dedi cated to discuss environmental aspects
of produced water. The 1992 International Pro duced Water Symposium
was held at the Catamaran Hotel, San Diego, California, USA, on
February 4-7, 1992. The objectives of the conference were to
provide a forum where scientists, regulators, industry, academia,
and the enviromental community could gather to hear and discuss the
latest information related to the environmental considerations of
produced water discharges. It was also an objective to provide a
forum for the peer review and international publication of the
symposium papers so that they would have wide availability to all
parties interested in produced water environmental issues. Produced
water is the largest volume waste stream from oil and gas
production activities. Onshore, well over 90% is reinjected to
subsurface formations. Offshore, and in the coastal zone, most
produced water is discharged to the ocean. Over the past several
years there has been increasing concern from regulators and the
environmental commu nity. There has been a quest for more
information on the composition, treatment systems and chemicals,
discharge characteristics, disposal options, and fate and effects
of the produced water. As so often happens, much of this
information exists in the forms of reports and internal research
papers. This symposium and publication was intended to make this
information available, both for open discussion at the conference,
and for peer review before publication."
This book distills the wealth of knowledge contained in the
classic text, Geriatric Medicine: An Evidence-Based Approach, 4/e
into a practical guide for primary care, family medicine, and
internal medicine residents. Written by top experts in the field,
the book offers a detailed, compact overview of geriatric care. It
addresses geriatric pharmacology, Medicare and Medicaid, and
numerous other subjects unique to older adults. The case-based
instructional approach helps readers navigate the complexity of
prevention, presentation, and treatment for conditions such as
depression, dementia, and hypertension. Graphs and tables aid the
reader in determining the proper courses of treatment.
This book is a point-of-care resource for effective sexual and
reproductive healthcare for patients of all ages, sexual
orientations, gender identities and medical backgrounds in the
primary care setting. This useful guide is divided into three

adults, adults, and older adult patients. Part two presents an
approach to common SRH issues that span multiple age groups,
including contraception and family planning, sexually transmitted
infections and cancer screenings as well as sexual and reproductive
health in the setting of common medical
conditions.  Part three is dedicated to sexual and
reproductive health for transgender and gender non-binary patients,
including psychosocial, medical, surgical and legal aspects of
health.   This book provides primary care
clinicians with a framework for providing effective sexual
and reproductive healthcare to patients of all ages, sexual
orientations and gender identities in a way that is inclusive,
focuses on health, and addresses the needs unique to specific
populations.

A PHP developer's practical guide to planning, writing, and
deploying maintainable and extensible software solutions with
automated tests in a well-structured way Key Features * Learn to
organize and translate business requirements into maintainable
software * Minimize regressions and bugs while releasing new
features or bug fixes * Build maintainable applications using SOLID
principles Book Description PHP web developers end up building
complex enterprise projects without prior experience in test-driven
and behavior-driven development which results in software that's
complex and difficult to maintain. This step-by-step guide helps
you manage the complexities of large-scale web applications. It
takes you through the processes of working on a project, starting
from understanding business requirements and translating them into
actual maintainable software, to automated deployments. You'll
learn how to break down business requirements into workable and
actionable lists using Jira. Using those organized lists of
business requirements, you'll understand how to implement
behavior-driven development (BDD) and test-driven development (TDD)
to start writing maintainable PHP code. You'll explore how to use
the automated tests to help you stop introducing regressions to an
application each time you release code by using continuous
integration. By the end of this book, you'll have learned how to
start a PHP project, break down the requirements, build test
scenarios and automated tests, and write more testable and
maintainable PHP code. By learning these processes, you'll be able
to develop more maintainable, and reliable enterprise PHP
applications. What you will learn * Understand how to start a
software project * Discover how to use Jira as a tool to organize
your tasks * Explore when and how to write unit, integration, and
functional tests using PHPUnit * Write behavior-driven tests using
Behat * Apply SOLID principles to help you write more testable code
* Get the most out of your automated tests by using continuous
integration * Use continuous delivery to help you prepare your
application for deployment Who This Book Is For This book is for
PHP software developers looking to implement TDD and BDD in their
projects. An understanding of object-oriented programming is
required to get the most out of this book. Professional software
development experience will also be beneficial to understand
real-life business cases.
