Eight school girls from the hills on a tour of Agra, drive into
Delhi the day Indira Gandhi is assassinated. They run into a
violent crazed mob that pulls their driver out and slays him.
Sandeep and his younger brother, Manish, are not looking forward to
spending three months in the remote, Internet-challenged hill
station of Pahadpur, especially under the eagle eye of their
military-minded great aunt. Apart from taking care of their kid
sister, Chubs, who has a tendency to wander off on her own, the
boys have absolutely nothing to do in the holidays. But there is
more to Pahadpur than meets the eye. Sandeep and Manish discover
that the neighbours next door, at Falcon Heights, are shunned and
called 'lepers' by all the townsfolk. Who is the sullen, mysterious
girl who lives there and flies a falcon every morning? Why do
perfectly respectable citizens get up and leave, muttering
darkly, every time she enters a shop or cafe? As Sandeep unravels
the mystery, two terrible but seemingly plausible stories emerge,
only one of which can be true.
"The sun went out. The first wisps of clouds had already reached
us. A strange silvery light from the clouds bathed the landscape
eerily, like some malevolent eclipse. A stillness fell over the
mountainside and forest, making the leaves look as though they were
made of metal. It became dimmer as I hurried down the green tunnel
path and over the still, silent air came the distinct clink of
tools being used. And then came the revving of a powerful engine.
Had I found the Jaguars lair?"

DO MIRACLES REALLY HAPPEN? Sixteen-year-old Trisha is hugely
embarrassed by her hip mom who rides around on a monster motorbike
called Smelly Beast. But along with her exuberant little sister,
Shivi, they make for a quirky threesome, as Trisha adjusts to a new
school, explores her talent for singing and falls head over heels
for Akshay. Trisha's happy-go-lucky world suddenly comes crashing
down when a fatal illness befalls her mother. She struggles to make
the transition from a carefree teenager to a responsible adult,
hoping that some miracle will magically set things right. Poignant
and deeply sensitive, Miracles is a heart-warming coming-of- age
story of a feisty young girl's struggle against her fate.
