The age-old battle of good and evil actually revolves around the
battlefield of humankind. Each faction influences people to their
resolve. However, between these two great combatants is a third
entity: the Arrangers. Neither evil nor holy, their duty is to pick
up the pieces by giving rewards for the good and evil done by
man.
Evil retribution is given in the form of twists of fate,
commonly called karma. The person who seems to have evaded justice
becomes the victim of an uncanny accident. This is the job of the
Arrangers.
The Arrangers are in need of one last member of their group, and
they have chosen Tom Evans. Tom is in need of a simple and stable
life that he has never known. He has always been on the move.
Finally this small town is his chance at rest. But the Arrangers
have chosen this to be his chance at immortality. It is his
choice.
Activating the Art Museum: Designing Experiences for the Health
Professions, the first book on this subject, offers an argument for
collaboration between educators in art museums and healthcare
professionals. Through descriptions of teaching practices, the
authors bring us into the galleries along with participants to
demonstrate the value of art museums in supporting humanism in
healthcare for the benefit of both practitioners and their
patients. It includes advice on selecting meaningful and
provocative works of art; models of responsive workshop design;
compelling descriptions of gallery experiences; references to
supporting medical literature; and the voices of medical students,
physicians, and other health professionals. Chapters address key
topics including tolerating ambiguity; empathy; interprofessional
teamwork; confronting bias; the power of story; caring for the
spirit; wellbeing and mindfulness. This inspiring and practical
resource, written by three respected museum educators, is grounded
in their experience with multiple individual and institutional
partnerships and in designing hundreds of gallery experiences for
healthcare trainees and practitioners. This book will be valuable
to educators, leaders, and policy-makers in museums and health
care. These readers, as well as general audiences with an interest
in art and health will be inspired by the potential of art museums
to activate our empathetic imaginations and remind us of our shared
humanity.

From The Inside is a thorough revised and expanded re-working of
Hayward's previous books, Tin Pan Alley: The Rise of Elton John and
From Tin Pan Alley to the Yellow Brick Road. From The Inside is not
just an ordinary biography. It is effectively an oral history using
interviews conducted over a fifteen-year period with just about
every musician, producer, sound engineer, manager and key figure
that worked with Reg Dwight, before and when he was Elton John,
both in Britain and America, up to 1979. It is their story, From
the Inside; how they contributed to the success of Sir Elton during
that time, and how they played an unwitting part in his rise to
fame. It is a collection of stories from the music makers,
managers, executives and musicians that makes this book possible.
They are the people who were there, observing what was going on
and, in some cases, in close proximity to Sir Elton. It really is
the story of those who still see him as an acquaintance or as a
friend. It is the first time some of them have spoken out about
their years working and sharing Sir Elton's life. Sadly, some of
those contributors have passed now but their words and
contributions live on in this book.

BRING EM BACK ALIVE SID (Charles Sidney Williams, Sr.) is a
historical biography of the pioneer homesteader, rancher, horseman,
and sheriff. Sid s life spanned almost the entire post Civil
War-pre World War II time period, but his story here is concerned
primarily with the law enforcement problems of northwest Nebraska
during the prohibition and depression eras. Law enforcement of
northwest Nebraska during this time reveals the cultural aspects
and the trials and tribulations of the people who homesteaded and
established homes, farms, and ranches. Drought and low commodity
prices resulted in many foreclosures and hardships. Some land
owners attempted to ameliorate their poor conditions by the illegal
manufacture of stills and the production of moonshine liquor. A few
saw an opportunity to make a great deal of money. The poor economic
times finally ended with the advent of World War II.

The status of many carnivore populations is of growing concern to
scientists and conservationists, making the need for data
pertaining to carnivore distribution, abundance, and habitat use
ever more pressing. Recent developments in "noninvasive" research
techniques--those that minimize disturbance to the animal being
studied--have resulted in a greatly expanded toolbox for the
wildlife practitioner.
Presented in a straightforward and readable style, "Noninvasive
Survey Methods for Carnivores "is a comprehensive guide for
wildlife researchers who seek to conduct carnivore surveys using
the most up-to-date scientific approaches. Twenty-five experts from
throughout North America discuss strategies for implementing
surveys across a broad range of habitats, providing input on survey
design, sample collection, DNA and endocrine analyses, and data
analysis. Photographs from the field, line drawings, and detailed
case studies further illustrate on-the-ground application of the
survey methods discussed.
Coupled with cutting-edge laboratory and statistical techniques,
which are also described in the book, noninvasive survey methods
are effi cient and effective tools for sampling carnivore
populations. "Noninvasive Survey Methods for Carnivores "allows
practitioners to carefully evaluate a diversity of detection
methods and to develop protocols specific to their survey
objectives, study area, and species of interest. It is an essential
resource for anyone interested in the study of carnivores, from
scientists engaged in primary research to agencies or organizations
requiring carnivore detection data to develop management or
conservation plans.
