Following in the wake of Chang's two other best-selling physical chemistry textbooks, this new title introduces laser spectroscopist Jay Thoman (Williams College) as co-author. This new text has been comprehensively reviewed regarding both level and scope. Targeted to a mainstream physical chemistry course, this text features extensively revised chapters on quantum mechanics and spectroscopy, many new chapter-ending problems, and updated references, while biological topics have been largely relegated to the previous two textbooks. Other topics added include the law of corresponding states, the Joule-Thomson effect, the meaning of entropy, multiple equilibria and coupled reactions, and chemiluminescence and bioluminescence. One way to gauge the level of this new text is that students who have used it will be well prepared for their GRE exams in the subject. Careful pedagogy and clear writing throughout combine to make this an excellent choice for your physical chemistry course. Support materials are available for this title. For more details please contact [email protected] "With expanded coverage and more depth, Chang's newest book is now an excellent fit for students on the BS Chemistry track. It will provide them with the rigorous foundations knowledge they need for advanced studies in any sub-disciplines of chemistry, including biochemistry/biophysical chemistry." -Taina Chao, State University of New York, Purchase "The most student-friendly P Chem text available." -Howard Mayne, University of New Hampshire "I expect this textbook will be high on the list for instructors seeking a thorough, integrated approach to the subject of Physical Chemistry, combined with a clear and conversational writing style." -Alan Van Orden, Colorado State University "The new Chang/Thoman text is very good. I like its approach and it is very easy to read and well organized. In my opinion, this text makes a much better approach to Physical Chemistry than the other texts currently sold." -Mark Obrovac, Dalhousie University NOT AVAILABLE IN NORTH AMERICA AND CANADA
The seventh edition of General Chemistry continues the tradition of presenting only the material that is essential for a one-year general chemistry course. It strikes a balance between theory and application by incorporating real-world examples; helping students visualize the three-dimensional atomic and molecular structures that are the basis of chemical activity; and developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Although the seventh edition incorporates many impressive features, such as conceptual idea review, animations correlated to the text, and hand-sketched worked examples, General Chemistry is still 200 to 300 pages shorter and much less expensive than other two-semester textbooks. Dr. Chang and Dr. Goldsby' concise-but-thorough approach will appeal to efficiency-minded instructors and value-conscious students.
Not a how-to text, this beguiling book is instead a fascinating look at Chinese language and culture. Ranging through history, literature, folklore, linguistics, and sociology, this is a breezy, straightforward primer of surprising breadth.
One of the best-selling books for AP Chemistry, Chemistry 11th AP Edition by Raymond Chang continues the tradition of excellence with this new edition. The AP Edition includes AP course and exam information, an AP correlation, and a complete AP practice exam. Chang's text continues to take a traditional approach and is often considered a student and instructor favorite. It features a straightforward, clear writing style and proven problem-solving strategies, and continues to provide a firm foundation in chemical concepts and principles while presenting a broad range of topics in a clear, consise manner. An integral part of the text is to develop students' problem-solving and critical thinking skills. To that end, the authors have added over 340 new problems and have incorporated real examples in an effort to help students visualize the three-dimensional atomic and molecular structures that are the basis of chemical activity. This eleventh edition continues to deliver the integration of tools designed to inspire both students and teachers. Effective technology is integrated throughout with a multimedia package that stretches students beyond the confines of the traditional textbook. Features of the 11th AP Edition: Over 340 new problems New problem type - integrating problem-solving and estimating - fully demonstrates the real life of a chemist Chapter order reorganized with nuclear chemistry moved up McGraw-Hill's exclusive Connect Plus web-based assignment and assessment platform
