The book focuses on policy-making at the highest levels of the
United States government. Chapter contributors examine political,
military, and foreign policy processes from micro and macro
perspectives in documenting how President Bush personally dominated
U.S. national security policy and was the driving force behind the
United Nations-backed coalition of nations against Saddam Hussein.
The authors place the president's actions into political and
historical perspective and examine the consequences of the Gulf War
in both military and diplomatic terms. Among the subjects discussed
by experts are the president's political and constitutional roles
in war-making; the foreign policy implications and military issues
in the war; the domestic implications; and the postwar environment
and planning for peace.
In this groundbreaking new study, Whicker and Moore address an
issue of critical importance to the future economic and political
stability of the United States: how can this nation become more
competitive in international markets. Drawing upon economic theory,
political philosophy, and specific policy expertise, the authors
organize their work around two principle themes: that just as the
role of government in a changing world is evolutionary, policies
must evolve to reflect shifting economic realities, and that
previously hostile attitudes among U.S. management, labor, and
government must be replaced by cooperation in order to ensure
effective, long-term competitiveness abroad.
Five years for an adult, passes in five minutes. Five years for a
kid is a lifetime. An attempted bike stealing incident in Glasgow
when Raymond Moore was 13 led to him living in Linicro on the Isle
of Skye with his Great Granny and Great Aunt. His family stayed in
the city whilst his life changed on the island. Skye Stories tells
the adventures he had growing up: the girls he fancied, the sheep
he worried and the music he loved. The story of this time is told
in Skye Stories Volume 1: The Linicro Years. Although the books are
about Skye and his love for the island, the account of his
experiences and emotions will strike a chord with people who have
never been near there. Skye changed the author's life forever and
for the better. You could say the Isle of Skye saved his life. This
book, Volume 2 tells the continuing story of the author's years on
Skye as he moved out of the family home and into Uig.
My life was far from normal. Sometimes I wish it was. From the
streets of Glasgow to the hills of Skye. And that was just the
beginning. Join me in my journey of early 80's Edinburgh. My
Student Nurse days. The highs and lows of being a male Nurse. My
days of being a local impresario and Record label owner. Pub singer
and occasional actor. My loves, my losses. My travelling and
working in other cities and other countries. Marrying a young Thai
girl and becoming a father not once but thrice all in my
mid-forties and early 50s. This is the story of the best and worst
bits.

Here is a comprehensive account of the U.S.
constitution--including its evolution and its impact on shaping
American government and political representation. In eight
fact-filled chapters, the authors carefully explore the U.S.
Constitution's role. Chapter 1 looks at various conflicts which
occurred during its ratification in 1787. The next chapter examines
both the initial and subsequent impacts of liberalism and
capitalism on the Constitution. The following chapters discuss the
growth of federal power and the role of the courts in interpreting
the Constitution. Chapter five divides Constitutional amendments
into those which expand individual liberties versus those which
alter the structure of government, places them in historical
perspective, and traces amendments through the process of passage.
The following chapters analyze the geographic basis for
representation established in the Constitutional change and
suggests some nontraditional changes.
