The second edition of this well-received title from the Royal
Cruising Club Pilotage Foundation covers the entire Mediterranean
mainland coast of Spain from Gibraltar to the French border. This
is the only detailed pilot for the Spanish Mediterranean coast
running up from Gibraltar to the border with France. It covers a
varied cruising area that includes the mountain-backed Costas del
and Sol and Blanca, the expansive lagoon of the Mar Menor, the
low-lying Ebro delta and the rugged Costa Brava. In between are
several great cities including Malaga, Valencia, Tarragona and
Barcelona, the Catalan capital. The volume opens with Gibraltar and
La Linea. With Imray charts for the same coast, Mediterranean Spain
provides all the data necessary for anyone based in Spain,
transiting to and from areas further East or the Balearics, or just
exploring this rich and varied coast and its hinterland. The
coverage has been revised with the text updated, new plans added
and other plan updates based on the latest information. This
edition has been enhanced by the addition of over 100 aerial
photographs showing coastline and harbour approaches.
Coverage has been updated and expanded from specific routes to a
comprehensive sequence of ports and anchorages along each area of
coast, with introductory information about places of interest to
visit ashore. Author Nicholas Hill cruised the region extensively
for many years and has enriched the text with new photographs
throughout. Plans include up to date hydrographic data for both
German and Danish waters. This cruising guide is an ideal companion
for those who plan to explore the more challenging, shifting
coastline of the North Sea and the comparatively gentle and
intricate indentations and archipelagos in the entrance to the
Baltic. It is also a useful resource for anyone on a more direct
passage through to the Baltic Sea proper.
It includes coverage of the Lofoten and Vesterålen islands, the
Arctic archipelago of Svalbard and the remote volcanic island of
Jan Mayen. Author Judy Lomax continues to sail this beguiling
coastline of majestic fjords and multiple islands and uses her
extensive network of contacts, built up over more than 30 years, to
help monitor changes in the region. This fourth edition
incorporates numerous updates to her previous work and expands on
the detail for some areas such as the Oslo Fjord and the Telemark
Canal. There is a wealth of new photographs and revised Imray plans
throughout. Whether you are on a private vessel or one of the many
ships cruising this stunningly beautiful region, Norway is a
trusted and proven companion. "Any yachtsman even contemplating a
visit to this loveliest of cruising areas could be considered
negligent if he did not buy this book". - RHR, Cruising "...The
author finds it difficult to avoid superlatives when talking about
Norwegian scenery. I find it equally difficult to avoid
superlatives when talking about this book. I am impressed. Also
most Norwegians may learn a lot of facts from this excellent book.
This will remain a classic, and will come in new editions in the
foreseeable future..." Customer feedback “For anyone sailing in
Norwegian waters this book is an absolute must. It is the perfect
example of a truly excellent pilot from which practically nothing
can be found missing.” Christine Holroyd, Cruising Association
magazine.
This edition has been completely revised and updated by author
Steve Pickard, with comprehensive information on marinas, ports,
anchorages and sailing passages accompanied by new photographs and
updated Imray chartlets. Introductory sections give a taste of the
region both in terms of history, culture and tourism but also
provide detailed information on regulations, weather patterns and
other topics relevant to yachts. South Biscay is the complete
reference for yachts exploring this long Biscay coast of Spain.
For the past 12 years, Jo Winter has been cruising these waters in
her 45' Island Packet, Brother Wind, and she describes it as one of
the most diverse, beautiful, unspoilt and undiscovered sailing
areas in the world. The book covers thousands of miles of
coastline, a multitude of islands and inland up many of the
region's navigable rivers. Along with a comprehensive range of
information to help with planning a cruise in this region, the
introductory section details weather information, including
coverage of typhoons, and also indicates piracy risk areas to be
avoided. Sailing directions include small scale area plans to
orientate the navigator and larger scale plans to show details of
harbours and anchorages. Full colour throughout, the plans and
numerous photographs illustrate key features and places. Whether
transiting the region or planning a more extended cruise along any
of the coastlines bordering the South China Sea, this guide is an
essential companion.
