Collection of performances of German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen's early percussion works. The performers include pianists James Avery and Katalin Lukács, celesta player Pavlos Antoniadis and percussionist Steven Schick with his ensemble Red Fish Blue Fish. The works featured are: 'Kontakte', 'Mikrophonie', 'Zyklus', 'Refrain' and 'Schlagtrio'.

Live performance of modern composer Roger Reynold's piece 'Sanctuary'. A challenging and adaptable composition, 'Sanctuary' is performed by percussionist Steven Schick and his band Red Fish Blue Fish. Three different versions of the performance are available on the release: a studio version filmed to maximise sound and visual quality for viewers, a complete live performance from Washington DC's National Gallery of Art and excerpts from a special outdoor performance at The Salk Institute in La Jolla, Calif.
