Hyko and her people had always been bound by rules. Elders were to respect and uphold the laws of the spirits the men were to take direction from the elders while the women and children were to obey the men without question. No one was to question how things were. There was no defying the laws of the spirits. Stay in line and everything would be fine. Step out of line and you were sure to be scrutinized and punished. But when strange men invade the land of Hyko and her people, the sacred ways of their culture are broken. Panic spreads throughout the land. Children, women and young girls go missing. Men are being killed in their attempts to fight back, if they chose to fight back. And in the midst of it all, Hyko is intrigued by these people and their peculiar ways, so much so that she chooses to befriend and work side by side with one of them...until she is faced with life-changing decisions that could result in her death, or the betrayal of her people...
