research on the surge of connectivity between computing devices in
modern society, as well as the benefits and challenges of this.
Featuring extensive coverage on a broad range of topics such as
cloud computing, spatial cognition, and ultrasonic sensing, this

This book contains the proceedings of the International Workshop on
EuroPLOT Persuasive Technology for Learning, Education, and
Teaching (IWEPLET 2013). EuroPLOT was a project funded by the
Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the
European Commission between 2010 and 2013. The goal of this
EuroPLOT project was to investigate how Persuasive Design and
Technology can be applied in learning and teaching. Four case
studies were conducted to show the applicability of this concept in
a variety of teaching scenarios. This proceedings volume contains
19 scientific papers, with 8 papers directly about the project, its
technologies, and its case studies, and 11 papers about related
scientific issues and aspects. This IWEPLET workshop, held
16.-17.September 2013 in Paphos in conjunction with the EC-TEL 2013
conference, was the concluding event of the EuroPLOT project.
This book presents a variety of techniques that combine
computer-generated images and other objects with real scenes,
creating augmented reality. This work provides an excellent
snapshot of the current state of augmented reality research and its
latest applications to industry. Using computer vision, graphics,
and signal processing, augmented reality makes special effects in
movies and computer games economically viable. This collection of
survey and research papers presents a synopsis of the work covered
at the First International Workshop on Augmented Reality.
This book is published to honour the artist, poet and publisher
Brian Lewis at the occasion of his 80th birthday, which he
celebrated on 12 December 2016. It is built from photographs which
were taken during the numerous events which Brian had organised in
the years 2008 until 2016. These photographs document the wide
variety of engagement of Brian in artistic and social endeavours,
always including the community and encouraging participation from
others and mentoring their contributions in the most positive ways
imaginable.
