These are contemporary poems of general and political nature. Most
are short.
This short book contains poems written before 1967 by Mr. Savage.
They were edited and selected in 2013 for publication. The
influence of e. e. cummings is apparent, but not overwhelming.
In the near future the United States makes some questionable
choices and becomes embroiled in some questionable wars. These
stories are about some soldiers, including the "enemies," who met
the challenges of the politicians and ended the wars. These stories
are told with minimum violence and with good humor. They are meant
to entertain, as well as create in the minds of the readers a
certain amount of skepticism about current events.
These are mostly short poems on contemporary subjects. The format
is highly stylized.
A poem in free verse; a farce by Cyrus Sowsear; a review; an opera
proposal by Cyrus Sowsear; a play about Faustian politics; and the
title story appear in this fantastic book. There is also a
photograph of Izzi. It is like a long variety show, only more
entertaining. And it is red.
These are observations about politics, economics, and other
philosophical topics. They are presented with humor, clarity, and
the bias of a conservative ex-Republican ex-Democrat fat old white
man without a suit. You will, of course, accept all of these
observations as gospel, adopt them wholeheartedly, espouse them
enthusiastically, and promulgate them immediately to your favorite
politicians as a request for governmental reform.
