This book introduces transdermal drug delivery and what developments have taken place in various transdermal drug delivery techniques including system level design approach of a novel miniaturized medical device to offer precise and painless drug delivery via a skin-based transdermal route. It discusses the Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) based fabrication technique and the design, fabrication and characterization of different MEMS based components like microneedle and micropump. It further includes MEMS based component micropump with design, analysis, fabrication and characterization of the transdermal drug delivery device and challenges encountered in the design improvements. Summarizes transdermal drug delivery systems especially with a focus on MEMS and microneedles including theoretical concepts Emphasizes on system integration through describing simulation and design techniques as well as experimental fabrication Discusses system level integration for miniaturized therapeutic devices Includes working simulation models covering microneedles and micropump analysis Explores future direction in development of pertinent devices. The book is aimed at researchers, professionals, graduate students in Biomedical Engineering, Microelectronics, Micro-electro-mechanical-systems, Drug Delivery
The book is an attempt to decipher the confessional element present in Indian women writings which are basically dominated by male writings owing to its rigid patriarchal society. The book, Vol I traces the Indian poetic tradition from the Therigatha nuns to Kamala Das.The brilliant poetry of Sarojini Naidu and Toru Dutt, the first Indian women poets to write in English, also reveal traces of confessionalism. It was observed that the writing liberates poets memory thus freeing her from anger, guilt and traumas. The same route was taken by Kamala Das and her confessional writings. Confessional and the pivotal role of memory which make Kamala Das represent her self- moaning with suffering and anguish highlights Das's attempt to reconcile with her life and thus complete the process of confession.
