The consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry is dominated by major
Western brands. The dominance of such major brands extends to
burgeoning Asian markets. These conglomerates often rely on
packaging as a strategic tool to entice Asian consumers. This book
illustrates how packaging as a marketing tool is more than simply
changing the label or translating the brand into vernacular
language. It examines how different packaging elements (e.g.
information, imagery, packaging type) can help to communicate
product values to Asian consumers. Drawing upon rich knowledge of
the Asian CPG markets with extensive findings from fieldworks in
the key Asian markets, this book explains how Western brands are
localising their packaging design in Asian markets. It provides
invaluable insight into how major Western CPG brands have relied
heavily on their packaging strategies to compete not only against
domestic brands but also against other foreign brands. The book
includes in-depth interviews with brand managers of several major
Western CPG brands and retailers, and sheds light on emerging
trends of CPG packaging in Asia.
The Korean Economy: From Growth to Maturity takes an in-depth,
amalgamated look at the evolution of Korea's globalization drive
from the early 2000s (Kim Dae-jung regime, 1998-2003) to the
present period (Park Geun-hye, 2013-2017). The book discusses the
role of foreign companies on the sustainability of Korea's economic
growth, the relationship between the chaebol and the MNCs, the
evolution of Korea's nation brand, and the role of the state in
Korea's new economic trajectory (globalization) since the 2000s.
With data collected from fieldwork, the book provides both
empirical and qualitative insights (economic, socio-cultural and
political economic analysis) into the Korean political economy and
would be a very useful reference to other emerging economies
experiencing similar globalization paths.

Heimdall remembers it. Anti- Asgardian sentiment is rife, and the
arrival of just two warriors from Asgard to deal with the draugr
threat only incenses its people further. With rebellion growing in
Vanaheim, Heimdall must investigate this conspiracy and the undead,
even if it pits him against his own kin, to preserve the peace of
the Realm Eternal.
With today's electrical and electronics systems requiring increased
levels of performance and reliability, the design of robust EMI
filters plays a critical role in EMC compliance. Using a mix of
practical methods and theoretical analysis, EMI Filter Design,
Third Edition presents both a hands-on and academic approach to the
design of EMI filters and the selection of components values. The
design approaches covered include matrix methods using table data
and the use of Fourier analysis, Laplace transforms, and transfer
function realization of LC structures. This edition has been fully
revised and updated with additional topics and more streamlined
content. New to the Third Edition Analysis techniques necessary for
passive filter realization Matrix method and transfer function
analysis approaches for LC filter structure design A more hands-on
look at EMI filters and the overall design process Through this
bestselling book's proven design methodology and practical
application of formal techniques, readers learn how to develop
simple filter solutions. The authors examine the causes of common-
and differential-mode noise and methods of elimination, the source
and load impedances for various types of input power interfaces,
and the load impedance aspect of EMI filter design. After covering
EMI filter structures, topologies, and components, they provide
insight into the sizing of components and protection from voltage
transients, discuss issues that compromise filter performance, and
present a goal for a filter design objective. The text also
includes a matrix method for filter design, explains the transfer
function method of LC structures and their equivalent polynomials,
and gives a circuit design example and analysis techniques. The
final chapter presents packaging solutions of EMI filters.

This book explores the history of the Dominican Republic as it
evolved from the first European colony in the Americas into a
modern nation under the rule of Rafael Trujillo. It investigates
the social foundations of Trujillo's exceptionally enduring and
brutal dictatorship (1930-1961) and, more broadly, the way power is
sustained in such non-democratic regimes. One of the best works
ever done on the Dominican Republic, this wonderful book goes a
long way toward explaining not only the long-lived Trujillo
dictatorship but subsequent Dominican social and political history
as well. It is also a powerful critique of the simplistic
demonizing of the Caribbean dictatorial model of politics attached
to strongmen like Trujillo, Somoza, and Duvalier. - Lowell
Gudmundson, Mount Holyoke College
The study of insects at low temperature is a comparatively new
field. Only recently has insect cryobiology begun to mature, as
research moves from a descriptive approach to a search for
underlying mechanisms at diverse levels of organization ranging
from the gene and cell to ecological and evolutionary
relationships. Knowledge of insect responses to low temperature is
crucial for understanding the biology of insects living in
seasonally varying habitats as well as in polar regions. It is not
possible to precisely define low temperature. In the tropics
exposure to 10-15 DegreesC may induce chill coma or death, whereas
some insects in temperate and polar regions remain active and
indeed even able to fly at O DegreesC or below. In contrast, for
persons interested in cryopreservation, low temperature may mean
storage in liquid nitrogen at - 196 DegreesC. In the last decade,
interest in adaptations of invertebrates to low temperature has
risen steadily. In part, this book had its origins in a symposium
on this subject that was held at the annual meeting of the
Entomological Society of America in Louisville, Kentucky, USA in
December, 1988. However, the emergence and growth of this area has
also been strongly influenced by an informal group of investigators
who met in a series of symposia held in Oslo, Norway in 1982, in
Victoria, British Columbia, Canada in 1985 and in Cambridge,
England in 1988. Another is scheduled for Binghamton, New York, USA
(1990).

Written by a team of leading international scholars, this crucial
period of philosophy is examined from the novel perspective of
themes and lines of thought which cut across authors, disciplines
and national boundaries. This fresh approach will open up new ways
for specialists and students to conceptualise the history of
medieval and Renaissance thought within philosophy, politics,
religious studies and literature. The essays cover concepts and
topics that have become central in the continental tradition. They
also bring major philosophers - Thomas Aquinas, Averroes,
Maimonides and Duns Scotus - into conversation with those not
usually considered canonical - Nicholas of Cusa, Marsilius of
Padua, Gersonides and Moses Almosnino. Medieval and Renaissance
thought is approached with contemporary continental philosophy in
view, highlighting the continued richness and relevance of the work
from this period.

This classic, bestselling study of the Kung San, foragers of the
Dobe area of the Kalahari Desert describes a people's reactions to
the forces of modernization, detailing relatively recent changes to
Kung rituals, beliefs, social structure, marriage and kinship
system. It documents their determination to take hold of their own
destiny, despite exploitation of their habitat and relentless
development to assert their political rights and revitalize their
communities. Use of the name Ju/'hoansi (meaning "real people")
acknowledges their new sense of empowerment. Since the publication
of the Third Edition in 2003, Richard Lee has made eight further
trips to the Kalahari, the most recent in 2010 and 2011. The Dobe
and Nyae Nyae Areas have continued to transform and the people have
had to respond and adapt to the pressures of capitalist economics
and bureaucratic governance of the Namibian and Botswana states.
This Fourth Edition chronicles and bears witness to these evolving
social conditions and their impacts on lives of the Ju/'hoansi.

The 2010/11 season will go down as a memorable one for Goalkeeper
Richard Lee. After more than ten years at Watford FC, Richard
signed for League One outfit Brentford FC, but soon found himself
cast aside. Dropped after one game and behind three other
goalkeepers before he would get another opportunity - Richard would
take on his toughest challenge to date Cup wins, penalty saves,
hypnotherapy and injury would follow, but these things only tell a
small part of the tale. Suffering from acute mental anxiety
throughout his career pushed Richard into making a choice between
fight or flight. Could he overcome his fears or take the easy road
out and quit? Fortunately for Brentford fans, he chose to fight.
Throughout this book, Richard shares his understanding of the mind
and how to apply it for high-level performance. Filled with
anecdotes, insights, humour and honesty - Graduation uncovers
Richard's campaign to take back the number one spot, save a lot of
penalties, and overcome new challenges. What we see is a
transformation - beautifully encapsulated in this extraordinary
season.
