Dick Webb was a police officer for 30 years serving in the
Metropolitan Police, Bolton Borough Police and latterly Greater
Manchester Police. His career consisted of foot patrol, CID and
then Regional Crime Squad. He has endeavoured not to mention names
of people or streets so that at no time is he in breach of the
Official Secrets Act. Or he gets his knuckles rapped. Now that he
has retired and the children have flown the nest, the house is much
roomier. Giving his rheumy body more room to ruminate. Whilst
ruminating he enjoyed looking in the rear view mirror of life. What
he saw, what he thought, is in this book for you, hopefully, to
enjoy.
Containing two works addressing the problems we have all had with
money and with credit. ""On the Real Causes of the Recession,
Banking and Credit Crises 2007/2008"" is a conventional analysis
which identifies a key factor in why the credit crunch has arisen.
It is this key aspect of the credit crunch which must be tackled to
restore the levels of credit the world needs. Whilst scrambling for
Keynesian fiscal stimulus responses we seem to have overlooked a
rather more important factor John Maynard Keynes identified from
his experiences in the 1930's. In recent decades the world of
economics has somewhat neglected Keynes' ideas on the Trade Cycle
at its peril. ""The Economics of Money, Poverty and Wealth and What
We Should Do About It"" argues for a very unconventional
alternative approach and cure to the problems of modern economics
and our financial systems.

Since the notion was introduced by Gromov in the 1980s,
hyperbolicity of groups and spaces has played a significant role in
geometric group theory; hyperbolic groups have good geometric
properties that allow us to prove strong results. However, many
classes of interest in our exploration of the universe of finitely
generated groups contain examples that are not hyperbolic. Thus we
wish to go 'beyond hyperbolicity' to find good generalisations that
nevertheless permit similarly strong results. This book is the
ideal resource for researchers wishing to contribute to this rich
and active field. The first two parts are devoted to mini-courses
and expository articles on coarse median spaces, semihyperbolicity,
acylindrical hyperbolicity, Morse boundaries, and hierarchical
hyperbolicity. These serve as an introduction for students and a
reference for experts. The topics of the surveys (and more)
re-appear in the research articles that make up Part III,
presenting the latest results beyond hyperbolicity.
Featuring 229 sharp, new images obtained with state-of-the-art
technology, the Second Edition of this popular pocket atlas is a
quick, handy guide to interpreting computed tomography body images.
It shows readers how to recognize normal anatomic structures on CT
scans...and distinguish these structures from artifacts. Chapters
cover the neck and larynx, thorax, portal venous phase abdomen,
pelvis, arterial phase abdomen, and reconstructions. Each page
presents a high-resolution image, with anatomic landmarks clearly
labeled. Directly above the image are a key to the labels and a
thumbnail illustration that orients the reader to the location and
plane of view. This format--sharp images, orienting thumbnails, and
clear keys--enables readers to identify features with unprecedented
speed and accuracy.
In clear and concise language, Fundamentals of High-Resolution Lung
CT, provides a straightforward guide to understanding the
high-resolution lung CT (HRCT) assessment of diffuse lung diseases.
You will learn to accurately interpret HRCT findings, and how those
findings can translate into the correct diagnosis or appropriate
differential diagnosis. This volume includes over 600 images we
consider classic, many of which have been updated and improved to
facilitate easier reading and more precise interpretation. This new
edition includes two-page summaries of each chapter, including; key
diseases, facts, and findings, as well as classic images -- useful
for review or to better understand CT findings and specific topics
Every chapter has been updated with new content and new imagery to
reflect recent advances and understanding of diseases, and to aid
in diagnosis. Numerous pathology images have been added to help you
better understand disease processes. Seminal images are now
highlighted so you can compare to more recent findings. Covers many
commonly encountered diseases like pneumonias, sarcoidosis, and
connective tissue diseases, as well as rare diseases. Not just for
radiologists in practice and residence; specialists in pulmonology
and oncology benefit, too! Enhance Your eBook Reading Experience

Bringing a fresh and original outlook to the problem of poverty in
our world, the aim of the author is to explain how by seeing the
Economics of Money as a mathematical operation in each transaction,
and by seeing money as an ancient tool we need to improve, we can
move towards a different approach to economics and the mathematics
of money to solve poverty around the world and in the process bring
greater wealth to all.

NEW CENTENNIAL EDITION FOR 2020 Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald
honeymooned for five months in the summer of 1920 in a modest gray
house in Westport, Connecticut. It was an experience that had a
more profound impact on both of their collective works than any
other place they lived. It was, for Scott and Zelda, their
honeymoon. Having just gotten married and after being kicked out of
some of New York city's finest hotels, they were, for the first
time, in their very own place, albeit for only five months. It was
a time that Scott Fitzgerald called "the happiest year since I was
eighteen."He had, after all, just achieved success with his first
novel, This Side of Paradise, and was suddenly awash with money.
The Fitzgeralds lived a wild life of drinking, driving and endless
partying while living in suburban Connecticut. As it happens,
living near the beach, they were neighbors to a larger-than-life
reclusive multi-millionaire, F.E. Lewis. Historian Richard Webb
grew up in Westport a few doors down the street from where the
Fitzgeralds had lived some forty years earlier. Fascinated with the
Fitzgeralds, when Webb learned that author Barbara Probst Solomon,
who grew up across the river from the F.E. Lewis estate, proposed
in the New Yorker that Westport was the real setting for
Fitzgerald's Great Gatsby, he was stirred to actively researching
her claim. Boats Against the Current tells the real story behind
the famous novel and its tragic hero, debunking the long-held
belief that the book was solely inspired by the Fitzgerald's time
in Great Neck, across the Sound in Long Island, and lays out enough
information about the fascinating Mr. Lewis that it is difficult
not to believe that author Webb has located the true inspiration
for one of the most captivating and iconic characters in American
literature, the great Gatsby himself. Illustrated with a fantastic
array of never-before-seen photos from the Lewis family, as well as
the scrapbooks of the Fitzgeralds, period newspaper clippings, and
a myriad of compelling stories about Scott, Zelda and their
fantastically wealthy neighbor. A companion book to the documentary
Gatsby in Connecticut: The Untold Story, Boats Against the Current
also recounts Webb's own journey of making the film with fellow
Westporter and filmmaker, Robert Steven Williams. The Great Gatsby
may be one of America's essential novels. Boats Against the Current
is an essential document for anyone who has read the book and
wondered at the fantastical world whose story it tells.
