“Len tells his story as only he can: forthright, confident and
witty. What emerges is a hard-hitting assessment of dramatic times,
and a message of hope for the future.” — Jeremy Corbyn
Len McCluskey is the standout trade unionist of his era. Head of
the giant Unite union for more than a decade, he is a unique and
powerful figure on the political stage. In this major
autobiography, McCluskey throws back the curtains on life at the
top of the Labour movement—with explosive revelations about his
dealings with Keir Starmer, the behind-the-scenes battles of the
Corbyn era, his secret Brexit negotiations with Theresa May’s
government, the spectacular bust-up with his former friend Tom
Watson, and his tortuous relationship with Ed Miliband. McCluskey
is no run-of-the-mill trade unionist. Fiercely political,
unflinchingly left wing, he is a true workers’ leader. His
politics were formed in Liverpool at a time of dock strikes, the
Beatles, and the May 1968 revolution in Paris. An eyewitness to the
Hillsborough tragedy, he recounts in harrowing detail searching for
his son. Witty and sharp, McCluskey delivers a powerful
intervention, issuing a manifesto for the future of trade unionism
and urging the left not to lose sight of class politics. A central
player in a tumultuous period of British political history,
McCluskey’s account is an essential—and entertaining—record
of our times.
All 25 episodes from the British sitcom written by and starring
Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash. In the first series, we are
introduced to the domestic conflicts of the Liverpudlian Royle
clan, with Aherne as Denise, daughter of Jim (Ricky Tomlinson) and
Barbara (Sue Johnston), and soon-to-be-wed-to boyfriend, Dave
(Cash). In the second series, Denise has now married Dave, but the
Royle family sofa is no less crowded for that. The third series
sees the addition of Denise and Dave's first child which brings its
share of new trials and tribulations to the semi-inert world of
now-grandparents, Jim and Barbara. The 1999 and 2000 Christmas
specials are also included as well as the five one-off episodes:
'The Queen of Sheba', 'The New Sofa', 'The Golden Egg Cup', 'Joe's
Crackers' and 'Barbara's Old Ring'.

'If there is a better written, less pretentious book by an actor,
then I have yet to read it. Undoubtedly the showbusiness book of
the year' INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY Famous as the lovable couch potato
Jim Royle of The Royle Family, Ricky Tomlinson has entertained
millions without ever leaving his armchair. Now, in his
long-awaited autobiography, he surprises yet again with a
remarkable story of love, hardship, humour, injustice and triumph.
His mother used to tell him that he had lived three lives, but even
she miscounted. He has been a plasterer, banjo player, stand-up
comic, union agitator, political activist, film extra,
award-winning actor and unwilling guest of Her Majesty's prison
service. Renowned and respected for his honesty, wit and integrity,
Ricky brings all of these qualities to his extraordinary, moving
and inspiring story.
Ricky Tomlinson, author and entertainer, has worked in pubs and
clubs up and down the country and seen more than his fair share of
last orders. CHEERS . . . MY ARSE! is his hilarious collection of
classic tales from the heart of publand. Featuring riotous stories
that celebrate our best-loved hell raisers - Richard Harris, Peter
O'Toole, Oliver Reed and Richard Burton, to name a few - and the
escapades of modern-day drinking heroes (like the Gallagher
brothers and Johnny Vegas), this is the perfect book for anyone
who's ever had one too many . . .
Celebrities would have us believe they lead a charmed life, and
never make mistakes like us mere mortals. Charmed life my arse!
With his wicked trademark wit, Ricky Tomlinson reveals the truth:
they're just as likely to suffer from bloopers, blunders and bloody
awful cock-ups as the rest of us. Packed with hilarious gossip and
stories, and with a cast of characters from golden age superstars
right through to reality TV wannabes, CELEBRITIES MY ARSE! is the
perfect book for anyone who wants to know what goes on when the
camera isn't looking . . .
I have always collected football stories like other people collect
stamps, and it's great to get this opportunity to stick them in a
book' From the bestselling author of RICKY comes this collection of
hilarious anecdotes about football, with stories about the stars
themselves, the fans, the girlfriends, the managers ... in fact
every aspect of the beautiful - and occasionally ridiculous - game.
Recounted with Ricky Tomlinson's trademark wit, this is a bright
and brilliantly entertaining collection that will delight football
fans everywhere.
