Water provides benefits as a commodity for agriculture, industry,
and households, and as a public good such as fisheries habitat,
water quality and recreational use. To aid in cost-benefit analysis
under conditions where market determined price signals are usually
unavailable, economists have developed a range of alternative
valuation methods for measuring economic benefits. This volume
provides the most comprehensive exposition to-date of the
application of economic valuation methods to proposed water
resources investments and policies. It provides a conceptual
framework for valuation of both commodity and public good uses of
water, addressing non-market valuation techniques appropriate to
measuring public benefits - including water quality improvement,
recreation, and fish habitat enhancement. The book describes the
various measurement methods, illustrates how they are applied in
practice, and discusses their strengths, limitations, and
appropriate roles. In this second edition, all chapters have been
thoroughly updated, and in particular the coverage of water markets
and valuation of ecosystem services from water has been expanded.
Robert Young, author of the 2005 edition, has been joined for this
new edition by John Loomis, who brings additional expertise on
ecosystem services and the environmental economics of water for
recreational and other public good uses of water.

This volume, number 15 in the Studies in Water Policy and
Management Series and joins two other volumes (8 and 10) that
collectively summarize a significant part of the post-World War II
experience of Western experts and donors with the development and
management of irrigation in Third World countries. The evolution of
understanding of Third World irrigation issues has been toward a
greater appreciation of the potential for augmenting traditional
production and water allocation systems with improved institutional
arrangements for achieving allocative efficiency and equity. The
need for local inputs for planning, system operation, and system
maintenance is now widely recognized, as is the need for providing
proper motivation for system administrators. The authors of this
volume offer improved conceptual frameworks and analytic techniques
applied to specific country and regional problems in hopes of
edifying future experts and donors
"Odyssey in Love" is a fascinating documentary of two madly in
love Catholic-Christian souls who became one in spirit and who are
attempting to follow God's will for their lives. The forty-seven
year story of Bob and Mary Young, as related in their "boring"
annual Christmas letters and family photos, provides a
laugh-out-loud recollection of co-creating and raising nine
children and, by proxy, twenty-five grandchildren... so far.
Bob and Mary believe that this brief earthly journey is an
adventure "in" God and "with" God, and, that by doing His will in
"this" life, they will join Him and their loved ones in an eternal
adventure of divine love in the "next" life Their "Christmas story"
highlights that conviction.
"Odyssey in Love" reflects the Light that emanates from our
Father in this age of moral darkness, and fills each of us with a
burning hope and expectation that we too will fulfill our destiny
and experience fully our adventure in the Son, who is the Way, the
Truth, and the Life
The Magic of Life is a transformational story of the inhabitants of
an island called "Isles" in an undefined location possibly in the
Pacific Ocean. The island has two distinct and separate communities
that are completely unaware of one another apart from the secret
few with access to both areas. This book is based on many intimate
stories of transformation, spiritual interactions, healing,
excitement, personal and technical achievement, and most of all,
the overall story of life that starts with devastating
circumstances and through many thrilling events, ends up with a
magical twist that leaves the reader with a calm sense of harmony
and delight. This book is not meant to be a literary masterpiece
but a channeled gift that will melt your heart and excite your
spirit.

This book presents a unique approach to church growth. It is
written mainly to help churches that are declining, but will help
all churches. The underlying premise is that churches do not grow
and reach new people because they do not know how, or because they
are so poorly structured and organized that they spend most of
their time and efforts in conflict. This disrupts the fellowship
and leaves very little time and energy for reaching new people. The
subtitle could be, "Fifteen Essential Steps To Growth"- Basic
growth and administrative principles. The combining of these areas
makes this a unique book. Young has brought together these basic
elements, from over 40 years of experience. . The book is a
practical guide for a local church to follow to function
efficiently and effectively, and reach people for Christ. When the
steps are followed, and in the proper order, the church can pretty
well be assured of growth and effective ministry. Dr. Robert A.
Young is currently President of Samuelite Corp., Church Outreach
and Consulting. He served as Associate Pastor/Administration of
Walnut Street Baptist Church, Louisville, KY, and Park Cities
Baptist Church, Dallas, TX, and President of the National
Association of Church Business Administration. He has conducted
"Total Church Consultations" and Capital Fund Campaigns for
churches of all sizes and denominations. He is now available to
serve churches as a consultant in these areas. He is also the
author of "The Development of A Church Manual of Administrative
Policies."
