John Philip Sousa's The Washington Post March was written in 1889
for the newspaper's essay-writing competition award ceremony, and
very swiftly gained the wide popularity it has retained to this
day. Robert Gower's well-crafted and playable arrangement will work
well on pretty much any size of instrument, and will make a welcome
addition to the organist's repertoire of ceremonial voluntaries for
grand occasions.
Amy Beach was celebrated during her lifetime as the foremost female
composer of the United States, and her writing was frequently
inspired by the folk music of America and Britain. Originally for
piano, her Scottish Legend evokes Scotland in its wistful melody,
adorned by Scotch snaps and conveying a folk-like atmosphere, but
spiced up with a few late-Romantic harmonies. Contrasts between
major and minor are also used to telling effect in this gently
attractive piece, sympathetically arranged for the organ by Robert
Gower.
The second Oxford Book of Ceremonial Music for Organ is a practical
collection of repertoire covering a wide range of uses, from formal
public events to more private occasions. The music is stylistically
varied, encompassing both flamboyant extravagance and restrained
solemnity. Selected with players of intermediate to advanced
ability in mind, the collection includes established favourites and
attractive new arrangements of well-known works, alongside newly
commissioned pieces.
The Oxford Book of Lent and Easter Organ Music for Manuals
comprises a diverse collection of seasonal organ music for manuals
only, covering the Church's year from Lent to Pentecost. The pieces
are drawn internationally from across the centuries and include a
mixture of established repertoire, attractive new arrangements, and
two newly commissioned pieces. The collection is technically
accessible and provides approachable repertoire for all church
musicians, making it an attractive companion to The Oxford Book of
Lent and Easter Organ Music.

The Oxford Book of Lent and Easter Organ Music brings together a
superb array of repertoire for use from Ash Wednesday through to
Pentecost, providing a comprehensive volume for this extended
liturgical period. The pieces-largely based on well-known hymn
tunes-vary in style and length, suiting a range of purposes, from
processionals and interludes to voluntaries and recital works. A
range of technical difficulty makes the book useful for players of
differing abilities, and clean and uncluttered scores leave
interpretative decisions to the performer. An invaluable resource
for a major part of the church year.
An anthology including the organ arrangements of Walton's works
which were made with his authorization, plus new ones by Robert
Gower. The varied and idiomatic arrangements in this book are
indispensable additions to every organist's library.
The two collections include the best of C. H. Trevor's series
'Organ Books 1-6', and are ideal for teaching or for service use.
The pieces have been specifically selected with the beginner's
needs in mind: a variety of easy and attractive items with simple
pedal parts. Each book is arranged in order of difficulty, book one
covering grades 2-4, book two grades 5-6.
This volume is a collection of 37 of the best pieces for use at
carol services, Christmas services, and Christmas concerts. It
includes a number of exciting new pieces on established tunes (from
Andrew Carter, Gerre Hancock, and David Willcocks, among others),
as well as excellent new arrangements of popular Christmas pieces.

33 grand ceremonial pieces that are ideal for use at weddings, as
voluntaries, or for recitals. Not all the music is loud and
extrovert: together with pieces like fanfares and marches, the
collection contains a sprinkling of quieter items in solemn mood.
Finzi's small and select output sadly includes no original solo
organ music, and organists will find these arrangements by Robert
Gower, Alan Ridout, and Philip Brunelle gratifyingly idiomatic and
rewarding. These arrangements make ideal quiet voluntaries or
recital items with a difference. The rich sonorities of the
original orchestral works transfer well to the organ.
