Children are at an increased risk for pedestrian injury and death.
This is because the traffic rules and risks often are beyond their
thinking, developmental, behavioral, physical, and sensory
abilities. In addition, parents and caregivers often overestimate
their child's traffic skills. Bobby and Mandee's be a Safe
Pedestrian is an excellent resource to help kids easily learn the
basics of pedestrian safety. Topics include the definition of a
pedestrian, types of intersections, making eye contact with drivers
at busy intersection, and much more. In the words of the author:
"I've written a book to help pedestrians stay safe and not have so
many tragedies.

In 2014, Big Finish started a new range of Doctor Who stories,
bringing back original cast members from the 1960s eras in order to
tell new stories: they're audio tales in black and white! When the
TARDIS lands in a house in Florence, Italy in 1514, it isn't long
before the guards of Guiliano de Medici arrest Steven and Vicki. To
rescue them, the Doctor has to employ the help of the house's owner
- one Niccolo Machiavelli. But can he be completely trusted?
Guiliano confesses to his brother Pope Leo X that he has angered
the wealthy family of Ravelli and believes the newcomers may be
part of an assassination plot. But when the Doctor arrives an
already tricky situation starts to spiral out of control. As the
city rings with plot and counter-plot, betrayal and lies abound.
The Doctor and his friends must use all their ingenuity if they're
not to be swept away by history. This conspiracy is about to get
complicated. This range of era-authentic new stories has been
hugely popular with fans, with a further two series already
commissioned! Peter Purves is known to generations as one of the
all-time great Blue Peter presenters, but this came after an acting
career which he's returning to here to play both the Doctor and
1960s companion Steven Taylor. Maureen O'Brien - 1960s Doctor Who
companion Vicki - is also a novelist whose works include Mask of
Betrayal (1998), Every Step You Take (2004) and Deadly Reflection
(2007). Guest star Olivia Poulet is well known for her role as Emma
Messinger in The Thick of It. She's also recently played Emma Peel
in Big Finish's revival of The Avengers - Steed & Mrs Peel.
CAST: Maureen O'Brien (Vicki), Peter Purves (Steven Taylor/The
Doctor/Narrator), Mark Frost (Niccolo Machiavelli), Jamie Ballard
(Guiliano de Medici), Robert Hands (Pope Leo X), Olivia Poulet
(Carla), Joe Bor (Guard Captain).
Most children, especially children on the autism spectrum, accept
adults' friendliness at face value. Sometimes it can have tragic
consequences. Written by a Deputy Sheriff, this book is credited
with foiling at least 22 stranger abductions. Characters Bobby and
Mandee explain stranger danger in a way that is accessible, but not
frightening, for children. Read it to your child and role-play
different scenarios. Create a password only you and your child
know, label backpacks on the inside (so strangers won't know your
name). Strangers can be men or women, old or young. Adults should
not touch, give gifts to, or ask for help from children. If they
do, don't keep it a secret! Tell an adult! Arm your child with the
knowledge that may save his or her life.
Educate, before it's too late In this moral-driven tale, Bobby
explains to Mandee that some secrets should not be kept--especially
those that threaten a friend's safety. Bobby explains to Mandee the
concept of "abuse" and then tells a very sad story--of a boy who
did not tell a trusted adult about his friend's abuse and what
happened as a result. Mandee replies with a story of her own, about
her friend at school. Together, Bobby and Mandee decide to go to
Dad and ask for his advice on how to help Mandee's friend. Author
and former Deputy Sheriff Robert Kahn recommends that parents read
this book with their children and encourage teachers to share it
with the class Helpful features include: Bobby and Mandee's Abuse
